Every Book is a New Adventure!
Funded Sep 4, 2020The students completed a paired-reading project with the new books we received. The project included choosing a book with a friend. Each pair read their books together, have discussions, and complete reading comprehension activities. Also, each pair put together a digital presentation that incorporated essential focus skills.
The students were so excited to get to choose a new book to read with a friend. They also enjoyed getting to talk and work together as they progressively read through their chosen books. Their discussions were rich as they discussed character and plot development. The hungry minds of ninth graders were fed through the consumption of these texts. Their final digital presentations were informative and delightful for the intended audience.
The generosity of each donor plays a huge role in the learning and excitement these young adults are experiencing through these books.”

Funded Dec 10, 2017Thank you for contributing to my students and their growth in reading. The variety of genres we were able to receive appeals to the different personalities and interests of the students. Also, the different reading levels are being met with these books.
The students are enjoying the new books tremendously. These new titles and authors are keeping them excited about reading. This in turn is helping their stamina and fluency in reading.
My goal is to nurture their joy of reading and keep the fire burning. In addition, I want to build their reading fluency, comprehension, and help them advance in their reading levels.
Students are talking to other students about the plots and character development in the books. They are waiting in line to trade off books.
Finally, students have used these books to create projects such as newspapers, poetry journals, plot structure posters, scrapbooks, music playlists and a variety of others to complete their independent reading assignment.
These books will continue to help students for years to come.”

Funded Oct 11, 2012My students thoroughly enjoyed this hands-on experience in the lab. The students were motivated to explore and identify each part of the eye and discuss its' function. A realization was created for the students as they visually and physically examined each part; pupil, iris, cornea, lens, etc.
My students and I thank you for your generous donation of cow eyes. Without your contribution this experience would not be possible. Not only did the students benefit from dissecting and examining each part of the cow eye, it flamed a new desire for learning and exploring in all directions.”

Pig Heart Dissection
Funded Oct 20, 2011Thank you for the donation of pig hearts to my classroom. This was a key resource that my students needed to have a hands-on experience to learn important vocabulary terms, as well as, learn different parts and functions of the heart. It helped my students tremendously to be able to feel, see and dissect a heart in real-life. This activity keeps the students engaged and involved in the learning process which helps them remember the important functions of the heart. This experience allowed my students to make connections that they would not have made without your generosity.”

Force and Motion Experiment
Funded Oct 8, 2010Through your generous donation my students were able to do a hands-on activity that allowed them to grasp the concept of force and motion in a greater way than just by reading about it. Students have a deeper understanding of force and motion by reading and then actually participating in the process of force and motion and then recording the information. Using the motion detectors is a great way to teach students about Newton's Laws of Motion. Thank you for allowing my students to have a great educational experience!”
