Independent and feeling successful in reading
Funded Jul 11, 2009I cannot thank you enough for all of your wonderful donations. It is so great to know that there are wonderful people out there who are willing to support academic learning for inner city children.
The tools that you have helped fund for my classroom will allow the students to become confident in their reading and writing skills. The confidence that they will get from these activities will help them to become stronger students and stronger readers.
My students love playing the different reading comprehension games and using the file folders. Last week we played the comic game and the students were so excited that they could read comic strips. They did not even realize that they were learning to sequence a story. I loved seeing their faces as they played the game.
Along with my current students it will help many generations of children to come.

Independent and Feeling Successful in Math
Funded Mar 19, 2009Thank you so much for you wonderful donation. Your donation has given my students so much joy. For these students it was like having Christmas all over again. They saw the box and they were so excited. They knew that in the box was filled with tons of math activities for them. With in the first day the students had taken out the puzzles and started playing with them. Since, than these activities have been vital assets to my math curriculum. When the students are done with their work they grab one of the activities and they reinforce what they have learned. Due to the many levels I have in my room the range of materials allow for all the students to participate. The problem solving cards I use weekly to help the students get ready for the MCAS. The coordinate grid made such a difference for my students. They were able to really understand what coordinate means and how it can be used. Using the stamp boxes the students were working on word problems and didn't realize it. My older students used the Math Master games to work on enhancing their level of understanding with Math concepts.
Thank you again for your wonderful donation. It means so much to me and my students.”

Learning Through Listening 2
Funded Dec 29, 2008Thank so you much for generously donating to my classroom. The audios and cd player are a wonderful asset for these children. They have been enjoying all the wonderful audiobooks in my classroom, but unfortunately with one cd player it has been tough. This second player will help more kids be able to listen to their book. These children learn so much from listening to stories. It works on their fluency and their comprehension level. I am so excited that I can tell them they will be getting a CD player and a few books after the holiday break. Thank you again for your kind donation to my classroom. It will be used for many many many years to come”

Learning Through Listening
Funded Oct 3, 2008Thank you so much for this wonderful donation. My students are going to be so excited to listen to the audiobooks. This year the children have gravitated to audiobooks. What is wonderful about it is that they do not realize they are learning. But thanks to you I now can supply them with an additional collection of audiobooks. These particular books are ones that they would have come across in the regular classroom, but now will still be able to enjoy the wonderful stories.
The impact you have made on these children will last a lifetime.
Thank you”

Striving for Success Even When it is Hard
Funded Sep 29, 2008Thank you so much for this wonderful donation. My students are going to love being able to manipulate words and do hands-on Math. The students I have this year are already excited about audiobooks. When I go into class tomorrow and I tell them that I received a Magic Tree House audiobook, they are going to want to listen to it that day. What a perfect time to get the place value game. My students are currently working on that skill and it has been really hard for them. This will hopefully help them succeed. I really cannot thank you enough for your kindness in giving these children the world. Your help means so much to them and to me.
Thank Yo”

Wonderful World of Magnets
Funded Aug 5, 2008Thank you so much for this wonderful donation. The magnetic whiteboard is going to be so beneficial in my classroom. My students are going to be so excited to hear the news. I can't wait to tell them. It will allow the class as a whole to visually understand different mathematical concepts and phonemic awareness. It will create a wonderful interactive environment for them to learn in. Again, I can't say thank you enough for this wonderful donation”

Lost in Reading Without Even Knowing It
Funded Jun 25, 2008Both my class and I greatly appreciate your generous donation to our reading program. My students struggle with learning in the standard style of teaching. These materials will enhance my students abilities to absorb the knowledge they will need to become better readers. My students are going to be so happy to find out that they can play games in my class, but what they won't realize is how much learning they will be achieving. Since my students struggle with writing and understanding what the parts of speech are, some of these materials will show them language in a visual and colorful way. They will be able to see how to break up a word and try it on their own, rather than just doing it with a dry erase marker and a board. I could go on and tell you about all the wonderful things we could do, but I will wait until I can show you the pictures and the letters from the students using them. Again, thank you so much for your generous offer”
