A Field Trip for a 3D Experience
Funded Mar 19, 2014What a wonderful experience that you have ever so generously bestowed upon my magnificent students! As the school year inches closer towards the end, I realize more and more how much I will miss my wondrous group of kids and their amazing parents. This 3D experience was not only memorable for them but also allowed them to learn so much. Upon returning from the trip, almost every conversation centered around what they saw, how they felt, and what they learned. "Do you remember when we..." was the way the students began the conversations with each other. I am truly thankful to you ALL for making this possible for our Roaring Rockets! Thank you!”

Hear Our Hearts Sing! Help Us Get To See The Lion King!
Funded Sep 12, 2013I just got home from this field trip and absolutely had to jump on the computer to share the outcome. The children could not stop smiling ear to ear. As we turned onto Hollywood Blvd., the kids "oohed" and "ahhed" and would not stop trying to get out of their seats to "see better."
Although they are young and the show ran late, their eyes were as wide as an owl. I heard the kids giggle at the jokes and gasp at the magic that was happening before their eyes. They may not see another musical again until adulthood but I am so glad they were able to see this one!
Thank you donors for making this possible!”

Van Gogh's Starry Night Takes Flight
Funded Apr 4, 2013When we received the boxes of art supplies, it was like Christmas in the spring. The children ohhed and ahhed as we pulled art supplies out of each of the boxes. We were able to get glitter glue, posterboard paper, glitters, movable eyeballs, and other arts and craft goodies that allowed us to investigate and explore our artist of the week more in depth.
We created a mural to adorn our hallway as we studied Seurat. We brought our very own outdoors artwork indoors. We created our own versions of self portraits on the tagboards with oil pastels after we looked at portraits by Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso, and Vincent Van Gogh.
And we are just beginning! Thank you is not big enough a word to express our utmost gratitude!”

The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round!
Funded Oct 4, 2012We were finally able to go to the Cabrillo Beach today and the weather was absolutely perfect! The students "ohh" and "ahh" as they saw hints of the Pacific Ocean. Many were apprehensive and reluctant to take off their shoes and socks being that this was their very first time at the beach. But once they got over "the unknown" I literally had to pry them away from the shoreline as we rounded up the troops to leave. The cold water and sand between their toes is a memory that you've helped them create for a lifetime! During this invaluable trip, they learned about ocean life, tracked guano, dug for sand crabs, saw dolphins, and touched sea stars among others of the world's other wondrous creatures. None of this would have been possible if not for your generosity and donation towards the acquisition of the charter bus. From all of us, thank you!”

Funded Jan 1, 2013Collectively you wonderful people and organizations have brought our project to life. My twenty-five first graders are so lucky! Because of you all, we received some much needed books for our classroom library to facilitate our conversations on what makes a good friend and what makes a bad friend.
Our tablet enabled us to visit student friendly websites to engage in hands-on experiences about anti-bullying. This tablet will be the gift that keeps on giving because as we learn and grow daily, we will be able to use this tablet for extra practice and reinforcements for all content areas!
Thank you so very much!”

On Hands On Deck
Funded Jan 24, 2012Oh the joys and smiles you have brought! Thank you so much for making this project a reality. My students love using the tablet to access interactive websites such as Starfall.com and BrainpopJr.com. Since the very day of the arrival, the Samsung Tablet has become a part of the Computer center. Not only are students learning how to use computers in my kindergarten classroom, but they are also now getting well versed on the tablet. What a great gift that keeps on giving!
Thank you! ”

Funded Jan 16, 2012When I carried the big brown box into class today, the students oohed and awed as I pulled the goodies out of the package. They all huddled closely and anxiously asked over and over again when they would be able to visit the lego table and play with the legos.
One student exclaimed, "We can make our patterns first and then make a monster like from that book we read!"
I agreed. The possibilities for learning and fun will be endless! Thank you donors for making it possible for my kindergarteners to have this opportunity. ”
