  • Evolution of Technology

    Funded Sep 17, 2020

Thank you for helping me get a slight leg up in this tight race of remote learning. It is so hard to get the kids engaged because we cannot physically be in the same room, so I am thankful that I will have another tool to support them both figuring out what their needs are as well as during their learning time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Melgar

  • Making Math Manageable with iPads

    Funded Nov 3, 2019

The divide is now even more prevalent and wider than we though. As we shift into remote learning, I sent home these two iPads that I received from donors choose. And thank goodness I did because that helped out two students at least. The students who received the school technology could not log on or kept getting kicked out.

It's a shame that we are trying to teach our students to be 21st century learners yet we are equipping them with outdated technology. Our school tech is so old, the district can no longer push the newer apps onto them because the operating system within is incapable of running the new stuff.

I sincerely apologize that there has not been any pictures yet. 2020 has been a rough year and with our abrupt school closing, everything was put on pause and we were asked to shift to focus on our students social emotional well being first and then everything else.”

    Mr. Melgar

What's a car without gas. What's a party dress with no where to go? You gave our printer life again when you helped give it its heartbeat back. Thank you for supporting us with the toner which made our printer no longer useless.

With your support, we were able to print out materials to break up screen time and paper-pencil time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Melgar

  • Virtual Book Club

    Funded Sep 1, 2020

Reading is so important to our class. We've had so much fun reading, discussing what we are readying, and most importantly, celebrating our completion of the book with a movie night which we would then turn into a comparative writing assignment. Thank you donors for affording the opportunity for my students to have something tangible in their hands.”

  • When I Kick, You Kick, We Kick!

    Funded Aug 29, 2018

Having students up and moving and be in motion is so important as we are living in the world where almost everything can be done in a vegetative state. I am so thankful to have the equipment we need to get the kids out and moving and learning about games and most importantly understanding what good sportsmanship is all about.

I sincerely apologize that there has not been any pictures yet. 2020 has been a rough year and with our abrupt school closing, everything was put on pause and we were asked to shift to focus on our students social emotional well being first and then everything else.

I was able to send some equipment home that allowed for us to be "active" during our zoom session.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Melgar

My heart was full watching the kids at the restaurant. They learned to order on their own. They learned to use chopsticks (many) and they openly tried new things. Some of the kids loved it so much, they asked for a to go back to bring home ONE dumpling just so mom can try it too! It was such a great experience that would not have been possible if we did not get this bus funded!

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

We did a grab and go and sent the materials home. The kids had so much fun and for a second it felt like we were all together in the classroom again. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Public support during this impossible time is monumental!”

  • Life is Like the Game of Monopoly

    Funded Mar 31, 2018

The children were so excited to dig into their very own book of Wrinkle in Time. Currently, we have been working on motivating our students and helping them discover the love of reading. We encouraged them to read their books and rewarded them by watching the actual Disney motion picture of Wrinkle in Time. Not only did this inspire them to read their book, but they also found pleasure in comparing and contrasting the book and the movie. Apart from this, students were challenged to go home and share the book details with a family members and discuss what they've learned. The beautiful illustrations and engaging text was always a topic of conversation on a daily basis. All of the students agreed on the many similarities and differences, but the most important and rewarding discovery was finding out that the book had more details than the actual movie.

Thank you so very much for your support in bringing this book into our classroom!”

  • We All Need a Little Help Sometimes...

    Funded Dec 17, 2018

This project helped in creating a closer bond with our students in class. They understood that not everyone is privileged and that some families and children sometimes have a need for some help. Students bonded closer friendships with one another through this process and were eager to help those in need. Our two students and their families in need of these supplies were simply ecstatic to receive the items.

Your support in helping us obtain these supplies have laid the foundation for getting our students into the right trajectory, helping those in need. The families are using their new supplies, clothing, and snacks and it gives our students in the classroom the satisfaction that comes with helping those in need, in our case, two of our own.

    Thank You!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Melgar

  • Score More for the Core

    Funded Aug 17, 2017

Words cannot explain the gratitude I feel for your kind donation. This has ensured our students with the equipment necessary to meet their fitness goals. Fitness is the key to a healthy mind and soul. Your generous donation has provided my students with the opportunity of staying fit and actively exercising. It truly is encouraging to see the same students who disliked the idea of physical education slowly evolve into motivated and self-driven athletes. Their self-esteem has slowly transferred into the classroom.

Thanks to your generous donation, my physical education instruction is now allowing my students to learn rules for various games and regulations, building friendships, conditioning their bodies, learning sportsmanship, and most importantly staying active and enjoying it!

Thank you for your support and belief in us. We cannot wait to post pictures!”

    With gratitude,
