Cozy Collaborative Space for Learning
Funded Aug 19, 2022I want to thank you again for supporting my learning space project! Students have been sitting and reading on the couch, using the alphabet cards to practice their letter names, and sharing their thoughts and ideas at the round table surrounded by books. I have even found that the positive room environment has created a space for teachers to enjoy on their breaks! When parents meet with me, they have made comments about the welcoming vibes in the office. The parents, students, staff, and myself are grateful for your kindness and generosity. All schools should be so lucky to have supporters like you!”

Funded Aug 16, 2019Our printer and ink has already been a huge hit at Betty Plasencia Elementary. Teachers have been able to print learning materials and provide needed intervention to students reading below grade level. Without your generosity, they wouldn't have been able to do this. The printed materials being used in the classroom are primarily for ELA and math, but many teachers are also incorporating art into their use.
Teachers have been so grateful for the printer and ink, which has transferred to the students. When students create a digital work, they can easily print it. When teachers need to support parents, they can easily print progress reports. Overall, the resources have improved the daily life of our educators, students, and families.
Thank you for choosing to donate to our school project out of the numerous projects out there.”

Funded May 12, 2017You have made a huge impact on our classroom capabilities. We have been able to take our scripts and speeches to a new level. Students have been able to record video and edit their clips into high-quality student movies. As a teacher, I have seen one particular student really delve into using iMovie. She edited our student council speeches into a seamless video with a soundtrack, transitions, and even credits. The results have been impressive.
Another aspect of the Macbook that students love, is the ability to share files and use the same programs as me. The students at our school have iPads and now I can easily share work through Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. One student said "We're speaking the same language now."
The next project we will be working on with our new technology is a commercial for the fall festival event. I will be giving another highly interested student the chance to edit our video. The best part of this tool is getting the chance to see the capabilities and potential of my students in a new context. Thank you for investing in my students and for trusting me to provide new learning experiences.”

Our Computer is Dying!
Funded Feb 3, 2016The deepest of thanks is due for you for helping our classroom. We have been able to stretch our lessons into the depths that technology allows. My students have been able to interact with virtual field trips, make progress in academic web-based programs, and their progress has been monitored more efficiently with the technology. I am feeling support from you and you are now a part of our community.
The exciting aspect of our new Chromebook is that we can use it to make beautiful online presentations and share interesting things that relate to our learning! Rather than pulling out dusty dictionaries every day, we can use the Internet to expedite our learning and understanding.
One student said that our Chromebook "makes him feel important" when he gets to use it. The resources online have helped him access information faster and with more enthusiasm.”

Help Us Love to Read!
Funded Sep 22, 2014Your gift to our classroom was received with so much enthusiasm that we had to open the books and start reading immediately! We are slowly working our way through the novel. It has been a highly interesting book for our middle school students. They have been using the genre-specific vocabulary for improving their written and spoken language.
We are enjoying studying Greek mythology in tandem with reading Percy Jackson. The students and I are reading a chapter a week as a group or with a partner. I have seen improvement in their reading skills. For example, peer reading has been a great opportunity for my English Learners to practice their fluency.
When we finish the novel, we are going to do a writing project that will help with implementation of standards. Thank you again for your generosity and have a happy New Year!”
With gratitude,
Ms. U
