  • Stem Bins With a Spin!

    Funded Sep 5, 2018

I am so grateful for having this Donors Choose project funded. As a STEAM school I struggle at times to find resources to use within my classroom. I have been longing for these STEM bins and I was so excited to have them available in my classroom. My students have used them to help with character building and applying the 4C's: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. They are of primary use in my Maker Space area and students have access to them for morning work, during lessons, and even during my after school program.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hoosac

  • Engaged for STEAM

    Funded Aug 21, 2018

I am so grateful to donorchoose for giving us this platform to reach amazing donors like all of you. My students LOVE the amazing things we received from this project. The bungee chairs are a hit for everyone that enters my classroom. I even had a parent who sat in one the entire time we had a conference. MY students especially like the engineering buckets. These buckets allow them to use the 4'C- critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. They are challenged with making real life structures like buildings, bridges, and automobiles out of different materials. They are definitely ENGAGED and are learning about STEAM careers. Thank you for helping my students become the Future World Changers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hoosac

  • Set the Stage to ENGAGE

    Funded May 10, 2018

We are so excited to receive the materials for our FIRST donors choose project. The project was focused on furniture to make the classroom feel more inviting and to give students more flexibility in seating choices.

As a STEAM school, I thought it would be great to let my students open the box and put everything together themselves. My students were ecstatic with the BIG boxes and even more excited when I told them that they had to figure out what it was and how to put it together.

Once built we found cozy spots for each piece and they were a HIT. My students love to sit at the convert a bench to work on independent or partner group work. I am able to use the high table as a conference station and students love to sit there to work on computer work.

My students are only in the third week of school and they are loving the flexible seating options that have been provided by all of our donors through Donors Choose.

    We are beyond GRATEFUL!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hoosac

Twenty-first century learning requires changes in the classroom. Students need a classroom environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. Gone are the days of rows of desks and and boring lectures. Students are now required to work together and persevere as they problem solve through tasks and challenges. Flexible seating provides students a choice so they can work in the setting that allows them to work most effectively. Organization and classroom furniture that provides students easy access to daily resources and materials will ensure students are always ready for any task. We need a bench, a table and an organization cart. Students deserve a classroom setting that will optimize their learning. Setting the stage for engagement really does make a difference.
