  • Title I HS Students Need Tools for New Design Program

    Funded Dec 7, 2019

Thank you so much for funding a better photography and design room for our students. They are new designers and the new space will really spark their creativity! I am looking forward to sharing what we create with you. They are excited to start the next semester with new tools!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gill

  • Photography and Newspaper Class Exploring Photojournalism

    Funded Dec 11, 2018

Thank you so much for contributing to our photo lab. Our students are hard-working and have a passion for story-telling in images. Your contribution allows them to continue to grow in their passion, and now with the printer, they can see it come to life! Being able to see their work in the halls and show it to friends keeps them motivated. I'm excited to see them develop this year, by having access to off camera lighting, new lenses and creative tools such as reflectors and prisms. While most of our students cannot afford these tools on their own, they are able to take them home to use them and really get a better understanding.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gill

  • Photography and Newspaper Program Needs Materials

    Funded Aug 24, 2018

Thank you so much for contributing to our classroom. The students were amazed at the generosity and have been excited to use the new equipment everyday. We have started setting up an in class studio for interviews and hope to add a live channel to our school newspaper. We hope you check it out at shssentinel.net.

The technology will bring our high school up to speed with the quickly moving tech world around us. Having a digital audio recorder eliminates the need for paper notes during interviews, and the backdrop and stand allow interviews to be done in classroom.

We appreciate you in so many ways! From the students and myself, many many thanks!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gill

This camera, lens and printer will allow these students to work independently on projects and learn how to use the gear first-hand. Hands-on learning is so important in photography, especially because so many kids have a naturally good photography eye. My students will have an end-of-year project called "A Day in the Life of Me." I want these kids to show how they live every day, the good and the bad. I want them to use the style of a photojournalist to show what their lives are like. We will be working on these throughout the semester, and they will be expected to use light sources and editing to make the images look how they feel. I believe these kids can really shine in this project. These kids may not have all the resources they need otherwise, but I want to give them an opportunity they haven't had before to really show what they've got. If they have the resources to do it, they can do anything.
