You Wouldn't Want To.....
Funded Feb 6, 2011Thank you again for your generous donations to our project, "You Wouldn't Want To......" My students love these books. We were having a "lunch bunch" time and I got the books out for them to see for the first time and they immediately starting devouring these books. I had to remind them to eat! I can't wait to see what they do when they start their projects based around these books.
If it were not for generous donors such as you, these resources would not be available to my students. Thank you supporting us and Donorschoose.org.”

Ms. Peacock
Showdown in the Classroom
Funded Mar 10, 2011Thank you so much for donating to our project "Showdown in the Classroom." I used the material for the first time today and they had my students so engaged. We used the markers and write and wipe answer boards to review for not only a geography lesson but also a math competition. The students loved them! The competition of showing their answers to the class during a competition created much excitement and pride that they could show what they had learned.
My students truly did what Bear Bryant said - "It's not the will to win that matters—everyone has that. It's the will to prepare to win that matters." It made preparing for their competition fun and they didn't realize they were working.
Donors such as you made this great resource possible for my students.”

Funded Jan 17, 2011Cool! Gross! Awesome! I Love it! These are just some of the things I heard today when we started our first day of dissecting our specimens. I wish you could have seen and heard my students when they cut into their frog, found the stomach, and then found the contents of the stomach. It was priceless. This was hands-on learning at its best.
Thank you so much for sponsoring our project, Dissect It and They Will Learn. Your generosity made this very worthwhile project a reality. I feel this is something that my students will talk about for days and perhaps years to come.
Thank you and Donorschoose for helping my students learn because as Benjamin Franklin said, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." You made this happen!”

Ms. Peacock
There's at Least One in Every Pellet
Funded Sep 3, 2010I can't thank you enough for your contribution to my classroom project, There's at Least One in Every Pellet. You would not believe the excitement in my classroom. It was so funny when I first introduced the lesson and told them exactly what were owl pellets. Even some of the most toughest acting boys seemed a little squeamish when I showed them the pellet. But, when they got their hands on them and realized that there were real bones in the pellets, the enthusiasm was apparent.
Without your help, this fabulous lesson would not have been possible for my students. It is so true what Benjamin Franklin said - "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."
Thank you so much.”

Funded Sep 16, 2010Thank you so much for donating towards our project, Even Shakespeare Would Flip for this Camera. Today I demonstrated to the students how to use the Flip camera. They loved it! We practiced with each student reading a poem. Each student took turns reading and then they were each able to use the Flip camera to record other students reading. I then showed them how easy it was up upload to my computer.
Later in the day, we watched the videos and and talked about how we could improve on our presentations of each others poetry reading. They loved it and gave some great critique.
I can't wait to start recording our Shakespeare scenes. At this time, we are working on The Tempest. Not bad for a group of fourth graders.
Without people like you, my students would not have this wonderful piece of technology. I thank you for your generosity.”

Shakespeare Is For Kids Too!
Funded Aug 4, 2010Thank you so much for supporting our "Shakespeare is for Kids, too!" project. The children and I are loving all the books. Because of generous people like you, my students are having the benefit of this quality material that would not normally be available to them.
So far we have learned about Shakespeare's life and introduced two of his plays - Macbeth and The Tempest. My class has just finished Act 1, Scene 2 of The Tempest and are loving all the mythological characters in the play. We hope to be able to perform our version of The Tempest for our parents in a few months.
I feel that learning about Shakespeare at this early age, they will indeed love and appreciate this wonderful author. Again, thank you so much for your generous donation.”

Time Trek
Funded May 30, 2010Thank you so much for supporting my "Time Trek" proposal. When
the news arrived that my proposal was funded, I shared it with my
students and they were so excited.
Last week we started reading from the book set "The Lightning Thief" and the students were so engaged in the story. It goes along with the other books in the project and makes the mythological characters come to life.
Your donation makes it possible to
provide my students with significantly more resources than would
normally be available to them. Combining fiction with non-fiction
information, my students will improve on making connections to what they
are learning. This can thereby improve their comprehension of the
historical context of the ancient civilization of Greece and how lessons
learned can be applied to their lives.”

Dig it!
Funded Nov 30, 2009Thank you so much for your donation to Donorschoose for our project, Dig It. We have started a schoolwide garden and the books and materials have helped my children to learn in depth the how to of preparing a gardening. We will be transplanting our seedlings soon to our outdoor garden and are so excited.
My students have been reading and learning how to manage potential pests for our garden and are looking forward to warmer weather so that they may be able to see their efforts in action.
Once again, thank you so much for the books and materials that have helped make this project a reality.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Disney's Planet Challenge and 5 other donors.Time Trek to China
Funded May 3, 2009This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The books on ancient China that you donated have helped my students learn about the cultures of another land. We've been using them to compare this ancient culture with others we have studied, including Greece, Rome, and Egypt.
When we opened the box of brand-new books, the students were enormously excited. Because of the nature of my classes, these books will be shared with not only my current students, which numbers about fifty children from fifteen schools, but will be available to my students in the future. It is not every day that our children receive such generosity. We genuinely appreciate your charitable spirit.
Our school and city, as well as our entire state, are facing budget shortfalls in education, so without your help, my students would not have had these wonderful resources.
Without donors like you, thousands of classroom in the United States would go without adequate resources.”

Ms. Peacock
