Stir Into Learning Steam With Phonic
Funded Sep 1, 2023You can not image the smiling faces of all my 38 students ranging from k-2 grades when they saw the wabbling chairs waiting for them during group meetings. They were so excited and smiled from ear to ear.
Students in grades 1-2 look forward to playing the Phonics Grab & Play Game. In contrast, the kindergarten use the Modern STEAM Fuzzy Stick Sculpture to build what we learned that week.
My next step is to continue using these activities to engage all students in their reading and build their reading to engage engineers. For example, I will take it one step further for all students to write their sentences based on what they are building.
Thank you for providing all the items to make my students learn yet, at the same time, discover what it's like to be an engineer.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Xiong

Funded Nov 28, 2022Thank you for the donations. My students and I appreciate it very much. The materials have helped the students to become better readers. My kindergarten and first graders use letters from Scrambles: Recognize the letter and sounds, Create blending/making words, and Play letter games with each other. When they first saw the hands-on letters, I cannot tell you the excitement in their eyes and mouth. They lit up and were anxious the use the letters. They can now identify the letter and its sounds. Most students can make simple words such as "can, mad, sad, etc.".
The first graders use the guided reading books as independent reading once they can sound out the words independently. They could read the books once they are introduced since it is also booked at their level. After reading the books, they can easily retell their reading by identifying the main characters, settings, and the story's climax.
We will continue to use these and hands-on materials to work on letter sounds, recognize the letters, know the names, and use the level books to support our readings.”

Funded Mar 7, 2022Thank you for the donations. My students and I appreciate it very much. The materials have helped the students to become better readers. My kindergarten uses letters to help them recognize letter sounds. When they first saw the hands-on letters, I cannot tell you the excitement in their eyes. They lit up and were anxious the use the letters. They can now recognize and understands the letter sounds.
The older students use the sentence strip and vocabulary and read the story. After going over the vocabulary, they read the sentence strip, and then when we read the story, they could read and understand it better. They love the touching and short stories. They were so excited to learn by using different methods.
We will continue to use these materials and hands-on materials to work on letter sounds, recognizing the letters, knowing the names, and using the level books to support our readings.
Thank you for your donations to make this so memorable for the students. We appreciate it very much.”

Build it! Live it! Drive it! -STEAM Power
Funded Dec 6, 2017The centers were wonderful! The student learns to look at real-life designs and make structures that use essential elements! The hands-on manipulative invite children to build, explore and engineer.
One of the students discovered that building cars were his specialty. He told the class that he is the leading engineer. The rest of the students wants to be just like him. They are eager to create anything with the provided manipulative's. While building, they were laughing and giggling. Thank you!”
