  • Going to 1st Grade!

    Funded May 5, 2022

My classroom is filled with curious, creative learners. They are in kindergarten and are building the foundations to become life-long learners. Inside the school they are safe. When they leave, a number of my kids don't know when they will get their next meal, or unfortunately even where they will sleep that night. But when they come to school, they know they are safe and loved and can rely on any teacher to give them a snack when they are hungry.

My classroom is an escape from fear and judgment. Continuing their educational journey to the 1st grade. I sent them off with a book that included a personalized message in it as well as something tactile for them to use in times of stress. They absolutely loved their book and tactile gift.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Quianna Turner

  • A Fresh New Start!

    Funded Jul 28, 2022

We expanded our school to a new location to accommodate more underprivileged children to attend a quality-loving school. We serve children living in poverty, homelessness, and your typical students. Our school is a place where students feel safe from whatever is happening in their lives.

Gave them a new fresh beautiful colorful classroom! The theme is Rainbow, so many colorful items to start with. The children feel a sense of calmness and joy as they enter their new environment and see they are part of a loving community and feel safe.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Quianna Turner

  • Phonologically Rich Environment!

    Funded May 3, 2022

So, sorry for the late response. My students and I sincerely appreciate all the people that have donated to my class and invested in my students. THANK YOU! You have directly impacted the everyday spirits of dozens of children. No exaggeration; these students now work even harder than they already did to earn extra time with all our new resources! They cannot wait each day to get their hands on all the amazing STEM activities and build the house of their dreams, or the coolest roller coaster they have ever imagined, or the car of the future!

The literacy games have enhanced our phonemic awareness centers and created an atmosphere of encouragement. The teaching tubs have allowed students to manipulate the foundational concepts that just weren't sticking in their minds. It has been wonderful to see the growth of these incredible children over the past 2 months.

I've seen new relationships blossom and friendships strengthen through all the new team-building activities. At the beginning of the year, we ask students what they want to be when they grow up. and their answers were pretty typical. Now, students talk about becoming engineers and architects; already working on their prototypes! These students have a new world of possibilities. This would not have been possible without YOU. Thank you to the moon and back."”

  • Math Fluency Here We Come!

    Funded Jun 24, 2022

Thank you for your generosity and support! Students have been so thrilled with the new resources and fully engaged in their learning with the Math Instant Learning Centers. When given the choice, students pick the math centers over the legos (and if you know first graders, you know that's a HUGE win for math)!

Fishing for Math Facts has increased fact fluency so much! Students have loved making fact fluency into a game and friendly competing with their peers.

Thank you for being our champion and investing in the education of our incredible students."”

  • Brain Food

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful donation of snacks for our students. Your generosity has provided more than just nourishment; you have infused our classroom with a sense of care and support that resonates deeply with both me and my students. Your contribution will undoubtedly make a significant difference in the lives of these young learners, ensuring that they have the sustenance needed to fuel their minds and bodies for successful learning.

Your donation of snacks not only addresses a practical need but also sends a powerful message of unity and community. By alleviating any potential hunger or distraction, you are enabling my students to fully engage in their studies and activities and to make the most of their time in the classroom. Your kindness and empathy are truly remarkable, and I am truly thankful for your dedication to our students' well-being. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your generosity and commitment to our educational journey."”

  • A Diverse Library!

    Funded Oct 28, 2021

I would like to take this time to sincerely say thank you for helping to bring this project to life. During this pandemic, it has been rough on teachers as well as students. Trying to be a teacher that keeps her students safe is a very important concept to me. As an African American teacher I feel it is important for student to see themselves in the book they read. How can we tell and student they can be anything and then have nothing to show and prove to them. This diverse books gives them a sense of hope and pride in themselves, that they can be whatever they so dream to be. Thank you for giving my kids a chance!”

    With gratitude,

  • Continuing to Be the Very Best Teacher

    Funded Jul 9, 2021

I would love to sincerely thank each and everyone of the people that have donated and contributed to my project, "Continuing to Be The Best Teacher". This means so much to me and my students. Mainly me as a teacher, as a teacher we works so hard to make sure that we are the best for our students. We are paving the way for their educational journey. To have the proper materials to make sure that happens is so important, because sometimes as a teach you don't always have the money to make sure that happens. The help and assistance I’m requesting will help foster curious and creative learners. I’m a new first year teacher, teaching 1st grade at a school where a number of my kids don't know when they will get their next meal, or unfortunately even where they will sleep that night. But when they come to school, they know they are safe, loved, and can rely on any teacher to give them a snack when they are hungry. The school I work at was created to give homeless children a fair and just education and we aim to accomplish these goals. Nearly all of the youths attending this school are at risk of staying illiterate. This is why the phonics learning center along with the rare Alonso will help. The teach and store cart is to maximize learning around the classroom. The write and wipe boards help engage the students. The word family books also promote reading.A listening center can encourage these students, who are below their grade level reading, to read books above their reading level and understand them. Reading is a big part of this. My students love to hear stories and are in the process of learning to read. Resources are very limited where I teach, but with the help and support of kind people, I know my students are going to continue on their path to become the most amazing contributors to the community and world around them! The materials I am requesting will help support the development of literacy in my students who face not only academic challenges but homelessness everyday.
