These materials would make a world of difference for my students. As a first year teacher, my classroom is lacking aids for multiple areas, but the main area that I am worried about is math. As a student, I adored math, and I only want to give that same experience to my students. Materials to help teach mathematics in a hands-on setting would help my students as we prepare for their very first EOG! We have a lot to cover this school year in so little time! These materials will help my students have a hands-on experience within the world of mathematics. In third grade, we discover multiplication and division, this is where items like the two-toned counters and items within the manipulatives kit will help students be able to put counters in arrays and create physical multiplication problems. For example, we can create 3 groups that contain 4 counters, thus bringing 3 x 4 = 12 into a hands-on problem. We also explore the world of place value and by having materials such as flip stands and place value dice is an exciting way for students to physically see and change different values to see how those place values effect whole numbers altogether. The base ten blocks have been around in classrooms for a long time. They are versatile for different lessons. They are useful when it comes to addition and subtraction with two or three digit numbers, division, and multi-step word problems. All of the materials on my list will benefit my students in a variety of ways! They will have my students during math and help them become life long learners to help them have a successful future! Any donation toward my project would be greatly appreciated by my classroom and myself!
