  • Challenge to Think in Games

    Funded Feb 2, 2022

Thank you very much for believing in this project that has been successfully popular with getting students to challenge themselves to think in new and novel ways they are unused to. Students have been enthusiastically participating with the items and learning how to triumph over their peers.

Thanks to your support students have been trying new games that require different skills that they are unaccustomed to outside of the classroom. This has led to animatedly engaged dicussions about strategy, team-work, and critical thinking that will help them be more wel-rounded and competitive inside and outside of the classroom

Your support of this less conventional project is greatly appreciated more than words can express. We look forward to providing you with photos of the games' success in action for you to see! :)”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. G

  • Manga for Visual Literacy and Reading Culture!

    Funded Jan 9, 2022

Thank you so much, yet again, for helping to fund this project. Since the arrival of these books, I have not been able to keep the students at bay, as they are constantly in the library requesting these titles. (Even students who never set foot in the library before!)

The addition of these manga books to our collection has created quite the sensational buzz, and generated new invigorated interest in engaging with the library books. Having these to attract students has not only resulted in greater interest in these books themselves, but also students checking out other books in the library collection.

The overwhelming demand for these titles has prompted me to create a new project to get an even wider selection of popularly requested manga, and the continuation additional volumes of titles from this project. Please consider reviewing and donating to the new project to continue supporting these very, VERY, grateful students.”

  • AP Human Geographers Research Resources

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you very much for providing tangible resources for students to interact with. Having these books helps them practice looking up index concepts, and they come alive helping one another to find the correct pages for information. It was helpful to perform read-alouds for content knowledge, and developing and action plan and timeline for students to prepare for the AP Human Geography exam.

Students can fall asleep constantly interacting with online texts and content, but having a tangible resource for them to experience looking through, touching and using to learn really helped them wake up to a tried and true media resource for learning.

You support is appreciated beyond what words can convey during these frantically unprecedented times in education to help students succeed in their academic development.”

  • Interactive Digital Resources to Enhance English Language Learning

    Funded Oct 17, 2018

Thank you so very much for donating the selected digital resources to help our classroom be more technologically resource-rich. The students have been enjoying the applications, which are easier to use, present a more engaging and multimedia-laden platform for learning, and are much more tailored to the use by young adults.

Students are able to access Google-based resources much more quickly than previously, and are able to develop their technology application use as a result. We have been able to further the understanding of responsible technology use.

We thank you so much, again and forever, for augmenting and enriching our classroom and lives with your donation.”

  • Chromebooks for 21st-Century Learners

    Funded Oct 19, 2018

Thank you so very much for donating Chromebooks to help our classroom be more technologically resource-rich. The students have been enjoying the Chromebooks, which are easier to use, hold a charge much better than existent computers, and are much more robust and rugged to withstand the use by young adults.

Students are able to access Google-based resources much more quickly than previously, and are able to develop their technology application use as a result.

We thank you so much, again and forever, for augmenting and enriching our classroom and lives with your donation.”

  • Helical Sharpeners for Keeping Student Supplies Sharp

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you very much for helping to keep my students' pencils sharp! Students are fascinated by the crank (helical) pencil sharpeners, and the absence of electric sharpeners has effectively eliminated loud noise from disrupting our learning environment.

At first many students did not recognize that the sharpeners were for their pencils, and indeed we had to dedicate a few minutes to demonstrating proper, responsible use and maintenance. Now students comment on how much better these sharpeners are that manual, twisting sharpeners are, and how much more peaceful the classroom is.”

  • Intelliglobe for Intelli-Students

    Funded Feb 28, 2018

My students have been loving the Intelliglobe to challenge themselves with either as an after-work activity or a weekly competition. Most have been using the "find" game where they try to find as many countries, continents, and cities as possible. In addition to this, some students also use the globe to learn factual information about other lands around the world, such as their foods, anthems, and data about their populations or physical geography.

The Intelliglobe has been a wonderful resource to enrich students learning and extend it beyond basic information.”

  • Civilization V Computers for Social Studies Classroom

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for bringing social studies and history alive for my students! Many students have enjoyed exploring unique terrain and new worlds, and have endeavored to build a one-of-a-kind civilization that will stand the test of time.

Students have learned that warfare is time-consuming and dangerous endeavor; that sometimes diplomacy is the best option; and empire-building can become a race for land and resources.

Playing Civilization 5 resulted in many students knowing more about historical heroes and leaders, and identifying with other peoples and cultures while also expanding their vocabulary and knowledge.

Thank you again for your contribution to a special means of learning!”

  • Audio Earphones for Student Autonomy and Digital Learning!

    Funded Jan 27, 2018

Thank you so much for the audio-enhancing headphones! Students are eager and enthusiastic to use these, not just as headphones to listen to videos, lectures, or education content. Many of the students like listening to their own voices as they read to themselves, and are better able to focus on their own words and reading intonation.

While we have had regular earphones in the past, students enjoy using these more, and have even asked where to procure a pair for their own home-use. As such, it helps to motivate the students to have an educational cocoon that students look forward to and enjoy as part of their academic experience!

Thank you ever so much for your contribution to enhancing our classroom with audio!”

  • Rebuilding Hard Capy, Content Resources In The Wake Of Hurricane Harvey!

    Funded Oct 9, 2017

Thank you ever so much for enhancing our classroom by providing hard-copy resources for students to use and learn from. Although having a digital textbook is beneficial for students, my sixth graders have consistently demonstrated a need for a tangible book, or note-taking guide. The resources afford to us by this projects have allowed students to remain aligned with their digital textbook, while offering the physical materials to maximize learning opportunities.

In the future, I will focus with students on choosing specific texts that interest them, and work to include more academic materials on working with these as a part of our class!

Thank you, again, for contributing to and enhancing my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. G

Our classroom takes students on voyages to distant lands, foreign cultures, and historical events. The overall goal is to create an increasing number of culturally literate, global citizens. The broadness of our requisite educational concepts affords a great flexibility in how we may engage our students in their learning experience. We promote greater individual autonomy, and differentiated experiences that students can take part in and ownership of their academics and personal identity. Basic and perpetual resources used include: colored pencils for maps and visualization of cultural events. Markers for creating banners and posters. A roll of butcher paper for them to unroll their creative streak outside of a box of printer paper. Help unleash the creative potential of social studies in funding this endeavor, and providing more of a hands-on approach to student-centered learning.
