  • Guiding Textbooks for Design Learning

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you for supporting our classroom endeavor to launch our career and technical education program in audio/visual learning and graphic design with a project based learning approach.

As a result of gaining access to these resources, our students were able to study and reflect on real-world issues that design can help address and come up with some interesting solutions. In addition to the project-based learning around real-world problems, students also benefitted from learning more consistently about the design cycle and how it helps to problem-solve unique and novel issues.

Without the generous support of donors, like you, such projects to enrich and deepen student learning would be an insurmountable task. Thank you for choosing to help our learners with broader and more dynamic learning resources.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. G

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and one other donor.
  • Positively Positive about Rewarding Student Behavior

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you for supporting this project so that we can offer incentives and rewards to our students for making good choices and having items to redeem their earned "Eagle Bucks" with.

Students enjoy having rewards to work toward and earn for their efforts in making good choices. Providing students with tangible rewards that they can see and save up their "Eagle Bucks" helps to facilitate classroom management and campus behavior practices that are more positive than punitive.

Overall, students love earning their rewards and even get competitive over who will get a prize first. So, thank you for bringing positive incentives to our campus to support positive student behaviors and work.”

  • Manga Series for Eager Readers

    Funded May 10, 2022

Thank you for contributing and enhancing our visual literature collection that is all the rage is getting students interested and engaged in reading.

As a result of this project getting funded, the library was able to offer students the continuation of their favorite manga series and even got interested in some new manga and graphic novels, too. Having a library that is responsive and attuned to our students' needs and interests makes all the difference in having a successful library and keeping students coming back for more to read.

Thanks for your support in making such projects become a reality, and nurturing our students love of lifelong literacy!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. G

This classroom project was brought to life by Neukom Family Foundation and one other donor.
  • Library Book Repairs

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Thank you for providing the tools and materials to help maintain our library collection that needs to endure the tests and vigorous handling by young, somewhat inattentive hands.

Thanks to your support of this project, the librarian (myself) was able to attend to some of the damages and issues that some of the books have sustained from being circulated among enthusiastic young readers. Having these supplies to mend and reinforce books helps to maintain the collection and last for a longer period of time.

Having donors help support projects that sustain collections and resources is every bit as helpful and appreciated as new books, and helps to model for students how to take care of resources and materials responsibly.”

    With gratitude,

  • The Library of (Book) Horrors

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

What a horror! The students cannot get enough of the new horror, suspense, and mystery books that we added to our library, thanks to your kind donations and support of student literacy of course!

Many new faces have started popping into the library to review and check out our "Suspense/thriller" section (where we've added these books to our collection bookshelves). Students are excited and appreciative of the library providing books that they want to read and discuss, with your support!

Students have been talking about their library in favorable terms, and are actively discussing and recommending book titles among themselves to read and grow their literary interests and pursuits.”

  • Manga Maniacs Who Love to Read Need Help!

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Thanks to your generous support our library has been flourishing and abuzz with interest from our students, who can't stop talking about the selection of manga and graphic novels we have for them. Interest has even spread to the students who never considered themselves "readers" before, but they certainly are checking in to the library for new continuations of the series, and to see if we've gotten anything else that interests them.

The support of our library has already been seen and felt throughout our school by having students interested in, and actively talking about the literary interests as noted by their teachers and administrators. So, thank you for providing them this opportunity to demonstrate that the library can have something for everyone!”

    With gratitude,

  • Some Library Books for Student Interest

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

So, upon arrival of these books for students, there were literal screams of joy that echoed throughout the halls and certain classrooms from student that had been eagerly anticipating these titles. The fervor and enthusiasm that your donations have brought about as a result of this project being realized was a palpable force that alerted students, teachers and administrators about the positive impact that books can have on a young person's life. Thank you for making our students happier and more fulfilled in knowing that their library can provide their hopes and dreams for what they want to read into their lives.

Thank you so much for inciting the utterly elated joy of reading for our students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. G

  • Building Texas Literacy, Literature, and Libraries!

    Funded Feb 24, 2022

Thank you for supporting the growth and inclusion of diverse narratives in our humble library's collection! Our students are interested by many of these titles, and have become more intrigued and engaged when they learn that these are challenged or banned books, somewhere for some reason. Because of your generous contributions, several students have been exposed to the concept of "censorship" and "book banning," and have expressed an additional interest in social issues and how literacy effects them.

As an educator, seeing the next generation take an interest in the world around them and expressing interests and concerns to effect change for the better means the world! Without your contribution and belief in the power of literature our students would be poorer and more disadvantaged.

You have our sincerest gratitude in helping our library and its students be empowered to select the books, subjects, and topics that excited them, and motivate them to read.”

  • Literacy Growth with Manga!

    Funded Jan 26, 2022

Choosing to support this project helps keeps student-readers enthusiastically engaged with their library's manga collection. The access to the continuation of the manga and graphic novel series that engage and enliven their reading experience has created quite the buzz that has attracted many new interested readers into their school library.

Your contribution to the library collection that is of greatest interest to students helps interest students in their reading habits, and possibly has started interesting many next generation of readership that encompasses and includes visual literacy, such as manga and graphic novels.

Without your help and support, the success of our library for our students would not be as great as it has been. Thank you for interesting and attracting students to their library to read!”

  • The Freedom to Read in Texas

    Funded Jan 6, 2022

Thank you for supporting this project that raises awareness of books that often will be challenged or banned to censor young reader's access to a diverse and inclusive selection of books. These books encourage and develop an intricate and well-rounded perspective on contemporary issues and narratives that encompasses black and African-American voices; LGBTQ+ stories; and other stories that place people-of-color voices at the center of the storytelling experience.

Your support of providing access to books for our readers means the world to them in having the opportunity, and autonomy, to choose the young-adult stories that interest them and helps them navigate these troubled times.

We look forward to providing photos documenting students appreciation of your contribution to their learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. G

Our classroom takes students on voyages to distant lands, foreign cultures, and historical events. The overall goal is to create an increasing number of culturally literate, global citizens. The broadness of our requisite educational concepts affords a great flexibility in how we may engage our students in their learning experience. We promote greater individual autonomy, and differentiated experiences that students can take part in and ownership of their academics and personal identity. Basic and perpetual resources used include: colored pencils for maps and visualization of cultural events. Markers for creating banners and posters. A roll of butcher paper for them to unroll their creative streak outside of a box of printer paper. Help unleash the creative potential of social studies in funding this endeavor, and providing more of a hands-on approach to student-centered learning.
