Students Have a Voice: Let Them be Heard!
Funded May 14, 2019My students and I really appreciate the new speakers in our classroom. Students are now able to listen to our science video. They were so excited about your donation and were very thankful! They made comments such as, "that was really nice" and "wow, people just gave us this?"
You can see in the pictures that they are all engaged watching and learning about climate change. They are looking at new evidence and formulating their own ideas on climate change. They are also preparing to debate whether or not global warming is real. In the video they observed how climate researchers use balloons to look at wind patterns and work as a team to analyze new data.”

Funded May 7, 2024Thank you for fully funding my donors choose project for speakers and scissors. My students will now be more engaged in our science lessons. Funded Oct 17, 2023Students were not told that they would be receiving these water backpacks, so when I showed up with them, they all lit up with excitement. They were so grateful, and we cannot thank you enough!
My students have been using their water backpacks during our practice sessions to store their personal belongings and stay hydrated. One of the many struggles during our long-distance practices was getting water to the students since I do not have any volunteers outside of the other coaches helping me. Now, no one is worried about it! Students also get to carry all the goodies given to them on race day.
The students are part of a program called Students Run Los Angeles (SRLA). SRLA's mission is to challenge at-risk secondary students to experience the benefits of goal-setting, character development, adult mentoring, and improved health by providing them with a truly life-changing experience: the training for and completion of the Los Angeles Marathon. My students will continue to be part of SRLA in the coming years.”

Funded Jul 5, 2019Words cannot describe how thankful I am for your contribution towards my classroom document camera. This project began with the idea that students would be able to share their work from the comfort of their desk. I feel that several of my students were influenced by your act of kindness funding this project because they were starting to generate their own ways of spreading it.
I started this project because I had been noticing during inclement recess that students just wanted to isolate themselves and play computer games. I really wanted them to play critical thinking games that allowed them to socialize with each other. I spent a day teaching students how to play some of the games and they demonstrated high levels of interest. One of my students that has a difficult time slowing down picked up chess, a game of patience and strategic thinking. Now I am utilizing it as an incentive for his positive behavior.
I have planned to use these games outside of inclement weather recess. As part of my incentive for students that are meeting their math goals. I will purchase pizza and let them play games. I am also pondering the idea of having tournaments to encourage students to play other things besides videogames.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Words cannot describe how thankful I am for your contribution towards my classroom board games. The morning I announced that our games had arrived, students cheered with excitement. I have one student in particular that is interested in cryptocurrency and bitcoins, so when he learned that Ripple had helped fund our project he was ecstatic. I feel that several of my students were influenced by your act of kindness because they were starting to generate their own ways of spreading it.

Funded Mar 8, 2018I cannot thank you enough for donating towards my classroom carpet. Before walking into the classroom, I announced that our carpet had arrived, and the only thing you could hear down the hall was the cheer from my students saying, "Finally!" My students had been waiting for quite some time for this carpet to arrive. As soon as they walked in, they all stood around it and admired it. The bright green leaves really make this carpet attractive.
As part of my morning routine, students read silently for 20 minutes at their desk. Now students have the option of taking turns reading over at the carpet. Reading in a comfortable position has encouraged several of my student that were not interested in reading, to finish a book. The carpet has also brought out the best in my students' behavior. They know that using the classroom library is a privilege and students that do not respect each other, or the things around them, are not be allowed in.
The carpet area is also in use for independent practice when I have small group rotations. I have several students in my class with special needs, but one of them in particular has trouble focusing. The other day I noticed him positioned underneath the table on the carpet. He was the most focused I have ever seen! I hope to continue using the carpet for small group rotations since I can already see the benefits. A big project that I anticipate beginning next year is a social emotional circle, and I believe that my carpet will be the perfect place to host.”
