  • Techno Kids

    Funded Dec 3, 2013

I would like to thank you on behalf of my students and their parents for your contribution to our classroom iPad Mini. Over the course of three months students have used a multitude of free and low cost apps such as interactive venn diagrams, iMovie maker, interactive notes, educreations and many visual tools for social studies and science. Additionally, they work hard to create a news broadcast inform other students of important events and how to be a successful student and citizen. This would not have been possible without your considerate donation. Students come to life when they get the chance to interact more creatively with the subjects we teach in fifth grade. That is no surprise, as they live in a digital age. Your contribution leaves them with more knowledge and critical thinking in their brain as a result of interacting with that technology. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to take our lessons to the next level in a multitude of different ways.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cumbee

  • Fitness Balls to Help Smart Kids

    Funded May 16, 2012

With our limited budget, we do not have extra monies to purchase special equipment such as our fitness ball chairs. I am so grateful and excited to see how these fitness ball chairs have made a difference in our classroom. First of all, I teach two classes. So more students that have needs to expend energy get a break from sitting in a hard chair and are allowed to sit in one that allows for movement. Additionally, they are seen as a reward and for the time they are taking turns, they try to exhibit good behavior working in their group so they can earn a fitness ball chair for class. I have seen a great improvement in our class behavior just by implementing these three fitness ball chairs. Students are working hard within their groups so they do not loose the privilege of working in a special chair. Again, these chairs have benefited our whole class and half of our grade level. Another student actually donated another chair to our classroom, giving us four. They have been a joy and improved our student learning. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We will use these for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cumbee

We have an amazing bunch of kids that must take the End-of-Grade tests at the early age of eight, during third grade. These wonderful students are diverse learners with a great range of ability levels. Many students work hard to earn success participating in Project Fitness, science clubs, reading clubs, tutoring, and more. With these diverse factors in mind, the fitness chairs, undoubtedly, can make a difference in their ability to be attentive in class, thereby improving their capacity to learn. This will positively impact their futures. Thank you for investing in these precious children's lives.
