  • Mindful Minds: Games & Art for Teen Well-Being

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

I cannot thank you enough for your generous contribution to my project, Mindful Minds: Games & Art for Teen Well-Being. Your support means the world to me and my students, and I am thrilled to share how your kindness will make a difference in their lives.

With your gift, I have received cards and board games, poetry magnets, soothing hand lotions, and a variety of art supplies. These items will serve as tools to help my students manage stress, foster creativity, and build connections in meaningful ways. Whether they are expressing themselves through poetry, engaging in friendly competition during a game, or finding peace in creating art, your donation is helping to create a supportive and inspiring space for their well-being.

In a world where our teens face so many challenges, having resources like these allows them to pause, breathe, and recharge. Your generosity is not just a gift of items but a gift of moments—moments of laughter, self-expression, and calm that they will carry with them long after they leave my classroom.

Thank you for being part of our journey and for believing in the importance of mental wellness for teens. My students and I are deeply grateful for your support and kindness.”

    With gratitude,

  • Bundle Up for Bright Minds: Hats and Gloves for Learning!

    Funded Oct 28, 2024

Thank you so much for your generosity in fully funding our "Bundle Up for Bright Minds" project! With your support, my students will now have hats and gloves to help them stay warm during the winter months. Many of them face challenges outside the classroom, and this simple but essential warmth will help them focus on their studies without the added worry of braving the cold. Your kindness has truly brightened our classroom, and it reminds my students that they are cared for by a community that believes in their potential.”

  • Gifting Warmth

    Funded Nov 13, 2023

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our recent school hat and glove drive.

Your contribution has made a significant impact on my students' lives, especially during these chilly winter months. Thanks to your kindness, I am able to provide warm hats and gloves to those in our school community who needed them the most. Your support has not only kept my students warm but has also shown them that there are caring individuals like you who believe in their well-being and education.

Your generosity has not only met a basic need but has also fostered a sense of unity and belonging within our school community. It serves as a shining example of how collective efforts can make a profound impact.

I am deeply grateful for your commitment to my students and your dedication to my school's mission. Your support is a testament to the power of community and kindness, and it will be remembered for years to come.

Thank you once again for your incredible generosity and for being an essential part of my school's mission to provide a warm and nurturing environment for my students.”

  • Fount of Knowledge

    Funded Aug 25, 2022

Thank you for providing reusable water bottles to the students of Trenton's Ninth Grade Academy. Although the weather is turning cooler with the arrival of Fall, my students still need to hydrate. Your donation of reusable water bottles allows my students to always have a sip of water close at hand. And for those students who start the day with P.E., well let's just say you're keeping them alive.

Another added benefit of the reusable water bottles is Trenton's Ninth Grade Academy is well on its way to becoming a Certified Green School--one of just a handful in the state of New Jersey. This is a proud accomplishment for our students.”

  • Connecting Life to Literature

    Funded Aug 19, 2021

Thank you for giving my students a chance to see themselves in the pages of books. For perhaps the first time, several students realized that books offer them access to worlds beyond their zip code. As they read books that features protagonists who looked and loved like them, they were able to travel to distant lands (both real and imagined), solve mysteries, experience boundless joy and heart-breaking sorrow, and so much more.

At the start of the school year, many of my students proudly proclaimed they HATED reading. But, after trying just one book--one book in which the protagonist was relatable because of skin color, gender, love interest, or family background--these same students were hooked. They are now avid readers. Thank you.”

  • Braving Cold Urban Jungle

    Funded Dec 19, 2021

Although last winter has come and gone, the students at Trenton's 9th Grade Academy were able to stay warm as the walked to and from school. Several of our students took home extra hats and gloves to share with siblings, thus spreading warmth throughout the city.

Not only did your generosity allow students to stay warm to and from school, it allowed many of our students to safely work outdoors over the winter. You may not know this, but many of the students at Trenton's 9th Grade Academy work construction jobs year round. I'm sure you can imagine how cold a job site can be during the winter. But because students were able to grab hats and gloves free of charge, those who are working to support themselves and their families were able to stay warm.”

I teacher Literature 1 in Trenton, New Jersey. In Literature 1, my students learn to THINK--to think about literature, to think how to express their understanding (verbally, in writing, and through art), to think how to use literature as a springboard to success in every context. My students, who are primarily from low-income African American and Hispanic families, are vibrant and inquisitive. They bring their experiences and cultures into every discussion thereby teaching me something new every day. I LOVE my job because of my students.
