My students are from a smaller community in Arizona. Many students here have been affected by the economic downturn and some are without access to the Internet and other ways to learn about the world around them. But I have discovered students who care deeply about what is going on in our state, our country and the world. This group of kids is committed to making changes and accomplishing great things. Some of our students have started charities of their own including raising money for clean water in Africa and nets to prevent the spread of malaria. These kids are inspiring. But in order to be effective and accomplish their goals they need a broad basis with which to understand the world. They need to read widely and throughout all of history. They need to explore cultures different from their own. But they need structure and guidance as they do this.

About my class
