  • Read Baby Read!

    Funded Sep 17, 2019

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity in choosing to donate to our project. Finally the books have been labeled and leveled and released to the class! Reading is an integral part of kindergarten and whether it's students using books to look at illustrations or actually reading the words, everyone enjoys the books!

Students light up when they find a sight word in a text or decode a word applying their knowledge of letters and sounds. Just like magic students are able to read word families-"if I can read cat, I can read hat, mat, rat, bat, sat..." the possibilities are endless!

Being able to provide students with 'just right' books feels amazing! Any of my kids can choose a book and feel comfortable talking about the illustrations and even attempting to read some of the pages if not reading the book independently.

We are wrapping up our unit, Elements of a Story, and students loved, The Three Little Pigs! I want them to jump in a book and love where the story takes them. Because of your generosity you have helped to lay the foundation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cauley

  • Reliable Technology for All!

    Funded Jun 18, 2019

Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and patience! The Chromebooks have made a tremendous difference in the Technology Center. Students have reliable technology and they don't have to worry about the computer shutting down unexpectedly.

Students love using the technology especially during literacy time because as they progress through the program, after completing a level they earn a certificate. I believe in celebrating so each Friday we CELEBRATE! If you earn a certificate, did something really well, improved...we celebrate!

During math students enjoy choosing characters on the program and welcome the challenges while becoming better mathematicians. I am so grateful, thankful, and blessed that you believed in me and my students and decided to donate to this project.”

  • Kindergarten Field Trip to the National Aquarium

    Funded Feb 21, 2019

Our trip to the National Aquarium was amazing! Everyone had a great time and it was an exploration from the minute we stepped off the bus and into the aquarium. Prior to the trip we learned about animals and their habitats and spent many science blocks learning about animals and what they need to survive as well as comparing and contrasting what humans and animals need. As the trip got closer we spent Morning Meetings predicting the animals that may be at the aquarium as well as sharing the animals we hoped to see.

A couple of the trips highlights were viewing the 4D movie, "Being Dolphin," and seeing the sharks swimming around-one had a loose tooth! The movie provided joy, excitement, and a few surprises like spraying water, bursts of air, and dolphins so close many jumped back. Days after our trip the students are still chattering about the trip to the aquarium and the different sea life they were able to see or touch-reminding each other to wash their hands if they ever touch a jellyfish:)

Words cannot express how grateful we are for your generosity and providing an entire Kindergarten class the opportunity to make an everlasting memory. Here's to you and the Class of 2031!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cauley

  • Level Up in Literacy and Math...Version 2!

    Funded Dec 28, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity! Because of your donation each student is able to visit the technology center and meet their required usage for the week. Using technology on a regular basis has helped my students become more independent-welcoming the challenge of signing on independently and beaming with pride when they see the welcome screen. We now have computers we can count on to stay on for the duration of use without the fear of the screen going black in the middle of a session.

My students' confidence has increased and even the students who originally did not care to visit the technology center are all smiles when it is their turn! I cannot thank you enough for changing my students' outlook on technology and for helping them become independent learners, welcoming each challenge that comes their way with a hearty-BRING IT ON!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cauley

  • Help Us Level Up In Literacy And Math With Technology!

    Funded Dec 4, 2018

Since January my students returned to school able to use technology on a consistent basis thanks to your generosity. We use a program called Lexia to increase exposure to literacy concepts that help students become readers and then they are able to apply those skills to become even better readers. Lexia instruction can be tailored to each student and meet the student where s/he is which decreases frustration. This program also offers lessons that are designed for use when students struggle on a specific concept. Students are excited to visit the technology center and work with a new Chromebook because they know exactly what to expect-the volume will work, the screen will be visible, and the computer won't shut down without notice. Once student's complete each level a certificate is ready for printing to reward student's on a job well done. Since getting our new computers, the number of certificates I print for us to celebrate each others growth has grown tremendously.

In math we use a program called iReady, which is similar to Lexia in its functionality. Students can be assigned lessons based on classroom performance or they can begin the program which adjusts based on student performance. The program also provides feedback for lessons or domains students may struggle with. This feature has helped with intervention by providing a targeted skill I can work with students on to secure their understanding of a topic and successfully complete lessons.

We are so grateful for your generosity and my students will, without a doubt, be first grade ready! We are in the technological age where everything is linked to technology and I am proud and blessed we were gifted the Chromebooks so my students are not only familiar with technology but will be able to independently use technology to advance their learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cauley

Each day, during literacy and math workstation time a group of students work on technology improving their literacy and math skills through the use of iReady and Lexia. We began the school year with enough technology for each student to visit the technology station at least once each week for literacy and math and rapidly our laptops stopped working. As a result, technology is home to three students each day during the literacy and math blocks. The priority is given to students who need the most help in various areas so students who have a firm grasp of the material are disappointed to realize it isn't their turn at technology. I love that my students challenge themselves and each other and even loaned my personal laptop for use in technology for a couple of weeks and I am disappointed that some of them have gone multiple weeks without the challenge.
