  • Treasure Box Time!

    Funded Dec 18, 2023

Thank you for making our Treasure Box an even more exciting incentive for students! The vampire teeth, play-doh, ring pops, and light up rings are student favorites.

Students periodically check to see if they are being leaders and earning a chance to visit the Treasure Box. The new additions have sparked student accountability and care for our classroom. Students pick up work that has been left behind and attempt to find the owner instead of saying, "that's not mine."

The Treasure Box used to come out only on Friday but since restocking, student behavior has changed for the better and the pride in their faces when they are "caught being a leader" and invited to choose a prize is unmatched. Thank you for your generosity and believing in our class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cauley

  • Mathematicians in the Making!

    Funded Aug 16, 2023

Thank you for your generosity! Students have enjoyed using the board to show their thinking in math and the Number Path has been especially helpful for students working to count fluently from zero to ten.

The number path has also served as a number line and scholars enjoy showing their "hops" to get to the answer when adding.

The boards are so helpful during math small groups - counting, writing, and drawing can be done with this single tool. We cannot thank you enough for believing in this project and blessing us with a new math tool to help us succeed in math!”

  • Kindergarten Complete! Never Forget to Be YOUrself!

    Funded May 9, 2023

You made our day funding this project! The students saw the books and wondered what they were for and why there were so many. We read the book in class and finally had our celebration with families. The following week, all students knew was 'gift bags are coming home,' no one asked what kind of gift or where they came from - they heard "gift" and were giddy with excitement!

Last Friday, EVERY Kindergarten student got to take home their gift bags including a copy of, "Be You." I hope they read and re-read the book and are encouraged to be their authentic selves.”

    Mrs. Cauley

  • Bubbles, Bags, Bright Paper for an End of Year Celebration!

    Funded May 8, 2023

A couple of weeks ago we were able to celebrate all of the growth students have made this year. We were able to print certificates on bright paper, and gift students bubbles, a book, and legos, in a sturdy gift bag thanks to your donation.

Students were excited to receive the gift bags we decorated with some Kindergarten pizzazz and loved the bubbles. Each student beamed with pride as they received their "Kindergarten Certificate of Completion," and teachers and parents were equally as proud. Thank you for helping us wrap the year with smiles!”

  • Headphones and Housekeeping

    Funded Feb 9, 2023

Thank you again for donating to this project. I know it was not the most exciting project to donate to, but it was a project that has helped us tremendously. Students visit the technology center on a daily basis and being able to hear instructions is vital to their success - cue headphones! They love the colors and the comfort and happily use them while working.

When students need to visit the nurse, the hook comes in handy. We don't have to stop teaching to retrieve passes and students are able to grab and go!

The ink has been used to print homework, newsletters, and materials for centers.”

  • Books on Books on Books!

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

Thank you again for donating to this project! Reading and retelling stories is a favorite in our class and the addition of these books has provided opportunities for students to interact with our unit texts outside of shared reading time.

Typically, we have a focus before reading and answer questions about the text, provide wonderings, make connections, figure out the problem, and so much more. These books have provided the students, especially my quiet and/or shy friends, and opportunity to get an up close look into the books. They sometimes notice items in photographs or illustrations that I missed.

Two of their favorites are, "Officer Buckle and Gloria," and "Jamaica's Blue Marker". We read about Officer Buckle during our Community Helper unit and the kids LOVE the dog Gloria and her antics! Another unit text is, "Jamaica's Find," students make lots of connections and empathize with the main character. When I saw another book with the beloved character I had to get it. Jamaica's marker caused students to think about others and their feelings. We enjoy reading EVERY DAY and students having access to texts outside of the unit has been amazing!”

  • Treasure Box Incentives

    Funded Feb 9, 2023

Thank you again for donating to this project! The treasure box is a special treat in our classroom and students love providing input to decide what is added to the treasure box. Each week, students earn Star Dollars when they are being leaders by working and trying their best.

Each week, we have Free Choice Friday and complete the day with a trip to the treasure box. This project gave students a voice in deciding some additions and some students set goals to earn star dollars to get multiple treasures!”

  • New School Year, New Materials-Rugs & Writing!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity in helping to make our classroom even better. Recently we were able to finally roll out our brand spankin' new carpet and enjoy sitting, learning, talking, and reading on it.

The writing caddy has helped us stay organized in writing, especially when we want to switch up writing materials. We can create vibrant pictures without having to scour through pencil boxes and trays and whenever a pencil breaks or students need a specific color, they can march to the writing center and find what they need in a matter of seconds.

We appreciate you and helping our classroom run a little smoother!”

  • Help Spice Up Literacy and Math Centers!

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

Thank you so much for your contributions that made a huge impact on our classroom centers. Creating the number line was a huge hit and some parents reported they enjoyed the activity so much, they started making their own number lines at home!

We also used the cardstock to brighten up center materials and items to support students and families at home. The lamination pages are extremely helpful in lengthening the life of printed materials, such as game boards, and letter and number cards.

Students love using the puzzles and the pens are a hit in writing. It is one of the first things students reach to use. You are appreciated and we are so grateful you chose to support our classroom to further our learning and make it more engaging!”

  • Read to Succeed!

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness! The leveled readers arrived and we put them to use right away. The books work wonderfully in Guided Reading and students are excited to find sight words and utilize decoding strategies. After reading, students answer questions about the text or make connections.

My lowest readers have found joy in reading and enjoy opening a new book and productively struggling with unknown words. "I Like School," has become a favorite that students zip through and then chat about the similarities in our class. "In the Dark of the Night," is another favorite for my higher students and they enjoyed creating word chains - night, light, right, fright, etc.

    We appreciate your support!”

Each day, during literacy and math workstation time a group of students work on technology improving their literacy and math skills through the use of iReady and Lexia. We began the school year with enough technology for each student to visit the technology station at least once each week for literacy and math and rapidly our laptops stopped working. As a result, technology is home to three students each day during the literacy and math blocks. The priority is given to students who need the most help in various areas so students who have a firm grasp of the material are disappointed to realize it isn't their turn at technology. I love that my students challenge themselves and each other and even loaned my personal laptop for use in technology for a couple of weeks and I am disappointed that some of them have gone multiple weeks without the challenge.
