Just Right Books for 1st Grade Readers
Funded Oct 20, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donations!! Our classroom library is a more rich and varied source of books for the students to choose from. My students are super excited each time they get to choose books, as there are so many new titles for them to explore! My struggling readers are more excited to choose books, because they know the books will not be too hard for them to try to read. During independent reading time, all of my students are more engaged and can read for longer of periods of time now that they have books to match their interests and needs!!
Your support is what has made all the difference for my struggling and reluctant readers. I am sincerely grateful!”

Making Math Magical
Funded Oct 17, 2014As always, my students felt such honest gratitude at receiving the materials donated through your generosity. Although the materials received were not what we originally hoped for (due to some problem fulfilling the original order) we were able to use the donated funds to purchase a variety of other necessary and helpful materials.
Who knew that months after our project was funded, our classroom would be newly fitted with a magnetic board across the front of the classroom! Some of the materials we purchased through your donations were able to be used for that. Other materials, such as the dry erase markers and erasers make independent work time much more fun than traditional pencil on paper.
Thanks so much!!”

Enhancing Writing Through Technology
Funded Dec 18, 2013Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students have thoroughly loved having music while they write, during math work, cooling down after lunch, and so on. They enjoy getting to vote on whether we listen to Classical or Meditation music. They are more inspired and excited to get their work done, and it has assisted in managing conversation volume during work time: the new rule is "If you can't hear the music, your voices are too loud".
During writing, the document camera has been a great tool in sharing student work. They love seeing their friends' work on the big screen and feel proud when their own work is selected as a model.
Thanks again!!!”

Math and Literacy Learning Stations
Funded Nov 15, 2012The math and literacy centers you donated have made such an impact for my students! We have been having a blast playing all of the phonics and math games, and my students are actually excited to get to school early in order to pick first choice.
Basic number sense and phonics skills are so essential in building a student's knowledge and understanding, and with these centers I have been able to reinforce these skills for my students without them even realizing how hard they are "working" while "playing all the various games.
Because of you, my struggling students are finding their way towards catching up to their peers in these basic skills.
Thank you!”

We Need A Rug!
Funded Oct 10, 2012Thank you so much for your generous donations! The rug you provided for us has provided an inviting and comfortable space for our class to gather for lessons and stories. My students enjoy working on the rug during independent reading, writing and other activities.
The colored squares on the rug have provided a wonderful addition to our management system, as we can now assign seats easily for lessons and call small groups by color. We've even been able to incorporate the rug into math activities using the squares to add, subtract, discover even or odd amounts, you name it!
We are so appreciative of your wonderful gift, and are daily reminded of the impact you have had on our learning community!!”

Ms. Mann
This classroom project was brought to life by Kia Motors America and 10 other donors.Integrated Classroom Needs Independent Listening Stations
Funded Mar 20, 2012THank you so much for this wonderful gift! My students have all enjoyed taking turns with the audio books. Having a variety of stories on cd has allowed my struggling readers and more advanced readers to engage in conversation about the same books. Students who were intimidated or bored by reading in class found something to spark them! It has been amazing to see the difference in interest level, and in reading progress in all of my students due to these resources. The impact has been amazing, and I can't wait to use them with my students next year as well!!”

Multi-Leveled Nonfiction Library for Mixed Ability Class
Funded Mar 1, 2012It has been amazing having these resources in my room. The excitement my students expressed when I unpacked these books and put them on the shelves was amazing! For those students who read very far below grade level, the minute they saw their levels on the labels for these books it was like a transformation took place; kids who would try to escape reading time were eager to get into the library and browse! Even those students who are reading at or above grade level have benefited - their friends are now as excited about reading time and they are able to read books on similar topics and share what they are learning and reading! The book discussions in my classroom have increased and it the level of engagement during independent reading time is amazing!!
It is a teacher's dream to see her students share a love of reading and learning, and to know that when they come to school each day the things she does is making an impact on them. This project has definitely made a big impact on my students, and on me as a teacher. I am ever grateful.”
