  • Supplies For " the Future Leaders"

    Funded Sep 9, 2021

Thank you for your generous contribution to not only our classroom but to our education!

Our class loves using rulers whenever possible. Of course, we use them to measure items. We also use them to draw straight lines when doing a matching activity.

The dry erase markers are a pure gem and we use them for EVERYTHING! We use them during math when using our number lines and hundreds charts. We use them during phonics to write on our dry erase boards. We use them during stations when we play games. It is wonderful to have a large pack of dry erase markers readily available.

Again thank you for your kindness. We appreciate you and your blessings!”

I checked the status of the Georgia's First People on the morning we returned from Thanksgiving Break and found that the project was fully funded. What a wonderful welcome back surprise! Our 2nd grade team of teachers are thankful for the generosity shown to us all! We know that our students are going to love learning more about the state's rich culture and will enjoy growing the "three sisters!" Thank you from all of us for making our unit come to life!”

  • School Supplied for 2nd Grade

    Funded Aug 2, 2021

Our class is grateful for the donations that we were gifted.

We used the laminating sheets to make math visuals that help us with addition and subtraction. Some of the visuals that we use are the hundreds chart and number line. We are able to write on the visuals, erase our work, and reuse them later. This is AWESOME!

We used the colorful paper and markers to create anchor charts that the students can reference whenever they need.

Thank you so much for giving to our class.

Your donations helped my class believe in themselves!”

  • Book Study Fun!

    Funded May 14, 2021

I plan to use the books as part of a novel study that ties into our science concepts. Novel studies are new to the second graders that I will teach so I wanted to start with easy reader books that I read as a second grader.

We will use Henry and Mudge under the Yellow Moon in the fall to introduce the idea of novel studies. We will discuss how the seasons change and the different moon phases. We will go into deep discussion with moon phases later in the year so this is a wonderful way to introduce the concepts through the illustrations.

We will use Frog and Toad are Friends to learn more about friendships, we will compare and contrast real frogs and toads, and we will learn about the life cycle of a frog. We study the life cycle of the frog later in the school year but it is a wonderful introduction into it. We will also watch the old claymation that was created in 1985. We will compare and contrast the book to the claymation. We may even create our own frog and toad characters using clay!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

There really aren't enough materials in my classroom for my students to have their own! How can a child fully understand and use their imagination, if they do not have a book to visualize the words? Please help me bring my students imagination to life, by giving me the opportunity to give them 1:1 books in our class for our book studies. Twenty students CANNOT read nor share one book at the same time! I believe my students having their own book, I would have full class participation and no focus will be lost. Also, these books will be great to use, if in the event the school was to shut down again. Most importantly, I cannot afford to buy each student a book. The majority of my students cannot afford to get their own books. Please help make our classroom wish come true!
