Preschool Special Education Library/Reading Area Seating
Funded Sep 11, 2023Thank you for funding our preschool library. Our special education students are utilizing the new seating area much more often. They like that they are able to move the seating and arrange it for their own preferences. I have observed the preschoolers spending more time looking at books. They have also been asking the adults to read the books to them more frequently. We have also added a puppets and a puppet rack to the area. If not looking at books or interacting with puppets, the students like to sit on the new furniture and review the alphabet and color posters that line a nearby shelf. Again, thank you for your generous donation.”

Funded Jun 20, 2023Thank you for donating to our preschool classroom. We received 4 cube chairs and now we have enough chairs for all of the students. We primarily use the chairs during our daily "circle time" lessons.
Circle time is part of our daily routine. The entire class sits on cube chairs in a semi circle. We sing familiar songs. The students especially enjoy alphabet songs. We do a days of the week song, and often counting songs and activities. We listen to stories and students are also introduced to new concepts, ideas, and materials.
Finally, as a teacher, I would like you to know that I truly appreciate your generosity. Your donation makes an impact on our program. Thank you for being a wonderful human!”

Funded Mar 15, 2013My students enjoy their new library area. It has become a much more popular center for the children to spend time. At times, the majority of the class will congregate in the area around the new book display and sofa.
The students often go to the library on their own to choose books to look at and explore. Before we got the book display and sofa, the kids where not very interested in looking at books or listening to stories. Now, they like to sit on the sofa with a friend or sit on the carpet in front of the book display for longer periods of time. The children have been handling books much better and treating them correctly, too.
Fortunately, the sofa that was purchased is sturdy enough for me to sit on with a child. The children have started to motion for me to come join them in the library area. They will choose books and give them to me to read. One of our preschoolers with limited language has started to tell parts of her favorite book on her own. The library material has definitely improved our language development program.”

Funded Mar 19, 2012Thank you very much for funding our preschool materials project. The two specially designed toys are very popular with the children. I can see the benefit of using these toys with several of the children already.
The musical confetti toy has given the children with physical limitations a way to play with a toy in a meaningful way. They only need to press on it lightly to get it to turn on. The vibrating mirror has become a favorite of one little boy. He is generally very quiet, but when playing with the mirror he has started to vocalize, smile, and hum.
Again, thank you for your generosity. Your gift has benefited the preschoolers in many ways. It also is nice to know that there are wonderful people out there who care about these beautiful children, and who are willing to share with us.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Lorenz
