  • Equity, Access; Learning and Achievement for All!

    Thank you for helping me kickoff this current school year. While we faced so many uncertainties your donations to my project, allowed me to bring a sense of normalcy to my 1st graders. This group of students has been learning from home, virtually all year and it has been my goal to make them feel as if they have not missed a thing not being in person, as well as deliver high quality instruction.

    Your donations allowed me to purchase an overhead projector. This projector has allowed me to share images, documents, and most importantly, books to help my students learn to read. The donations also helped me obtain all the necessary equipment to film high quality lessons to be shared with my students and their families.

    Again, thank you for your generosity, and thoughtfulness when making your contribution. You have truly helped make this school year a success!”

  • Tech. in the Classroom= Super Mathematicians: You do the Math!

    We thank you again for your support in making our project a success. Our Kindergarten students are so excited about learning, and adding technology to their math routines has made such a difference.

    Currently during our math block students are using a program on the laptops call SplashMath. Each student has their own account with their own avatar, password and are assigned interactive math lessons to complete. These lessons are fun for our students as they use characters, visuals, music, and sounds that children find engaging. The lessons are set up as games and as the students complete their assignments at their own pace, they collect "coins"to track their progress. Best of all the math lessons in this program align to the current math curriculum we are teaching.

    Each week we add new assignments, and when the student logs in they can work on the new assignment, as well as complete any incomplete tasks. Being able to to have this extra station gives all of our students another way to practice current math skills, review and reinforce skills previously taught.

    Each day students are showing excitement for math time as they know they will get a chance to use the laptops as one way of learning. The laptops have made a huge impact in our classroom, and we are thankful everyday for your support!”

Our students love to participate in hands-on experiences, and the use of technology is one way we can help all of our students excel as mathematicians. Both our students with IEPs, and those without, can and will be able to achieve success with the proper resources. Our students will use these laptops during our math center time to access various math programs such as ZEARN and Prodigy. With the use of laptops, our students can work with partners or alone to learn, practice and build upon already mastered math skills. We believe this will help all of our students develop a love of math and confidence in themselves as mathematicians.
