Sound Off: A Home Theater Enriches The Mind - Part Two
Funded Jun 11, 2012This letter is but a small token of my thanks for your donation to my class. These are truly difficult times, and any contribution that can find its way to our school is embraced and remembered, but this one is especially thoughtful. A wide-angled theatrical projector screen will be used for years to come and my students and I were thrilled to receive it.
I can't describe how cinematic images come alive and nearly surround the classroom. The awe and beauty that a filmmaker attempts to convey to his or her audience really comes across thanks to your generosity.
Your gift has had an impact on all my classes, and it has allowed me to establish a film community on my campus.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Blair
Sound Off: A Home Theater Enriches the Mind
Funded Jan 24, 2012This letter is a small thank you for the generous support that you've shown me and my class by helping to fund Sound Off: A Home Theater Enriches the Mind. You donation has allowed me to have a complete surround sound experience in the classroom, and it is the beginnings of a small theater that I hope to eventually build. I have been tantalizing my students with the prospects of this, and soon they will be able to experience a total cinematic package as if they were at the local movie house.
Trying to create a theater during our current economic crisis seems foolhardy, but all your trust and support demonstrates that anything is possible. I am still in process of ironing all the particulars of the system's usage out, but soon I will have everything completed. It will become a point of focus and draw attention to our learning community.
Again, I thank you for your trust and farsightedness. The awe my students experience, because of your donations, is on account of you.

With gratitude,
Mr. Blair

Funded May 14, 2010The gift you have given my class is overwhelmingly kind. These are hard economic times in education and for the country in general, and yet when the call came for a generous donation, donors choose and you were there. My class received a blu-ray player and Woodstock DVD and the excitement of this gift was palpable. It is my intention to eventually have a small movie theater built in our school, a place where a student can learn and experience the artistry and passion of American images and filmmaking. I had little hope of accomplishing this task, but I now see, with your help, that it is possible.
My students love watching films that are shown on a blu-ray player. The detail in the images is amazing and the sound is superb. It makes for a type of cinematic experience that really rivals the impact that only going to a theater provides; this is not something that these students regularly get to experience. On that level alone your gift is wonderful, but it goes beyond that. With a blu-ray player, we can learn about some many different aspects of cinema, especially the passion that goes into fine filmmaking. This translates to a type of work ethic that students need to have continually reinforced. It may sound like a superfluous thing, but I assure you its not. We have, with your donation, put rigor back into the classroom, and that is where I want it to stay.
We also received a DVD of the American classic film Woodstock. The three-day festival of peace and love is beautifully captured on film and is a treat to the eye and ear. I am always looking for ways to bring the sight and sounds of another era to my classroom. Woodstock makes that possible. Students can appreciate and long for a time, which brought half a million people to a small farm in upstate New York. This film shows my students an era and life style that has vanished but is not forgotten.
Your donations are a boon to my class and to education. Your generosity is appreciated and will be remembered. ”
With gratitude,
Mr. Blair
