Bookin Feelings with Books
Funded Dec 7, 2024The "Bookin With Feelings" project has profoundly transformed our classroom by helping students develop their social-emotional skills through literature. The carefully selected books have created opportunities for meaningful discussions about empathy, self-awareness, and managing emotions.
Students now eagerly participate in read-aloud sessions, where we explore relatable characters and situations that resonate with their own experiences. These stories have helped them feel seen and understood while teaching them valuable lessons about kindness, resilience, and working through challenges.
One of the most significant improvements has been the boost in classroom morale and connection. Students are more willing to share their feelings, support one another, and apply strategies they've learned from the stories to navigate their emotions. For example, one shy student has opened up during group discussions, using examples from the books to express their thoughts.
"Bookin' With Feelings" has not only improved literacy skills but has also created a safe and inclusive classroom culture where students feel empowered to be their authentic selves. This project is a testament to the power of books to shape young hearts and minds in meaningful ways.”

Funded Dec 2, 2020Why students attended class virtually it was very difficult for them to have paper, pencil, crayons, markers, and other writing materials to experience drawing art. Student use the technology we use in the classroom provides students with access to interactive and personalized learning experiences. Whether it's using apps to enhance math skills, engaging with digital storytelling tools, or conducting research online, technology helps cater to diverse learning styles and keeps students motivated. It also prepares them with critical 21st-century skills like problem-solving, collaboration, and digital literacy, which are essential for their future success.
The most exciting aspect of the new technology is how it transforms learning into a hands-on, engaging experience. Students love the interactive features, like real-time collaboration tools, creative apps, and multimedia capabilities. It's thrilling for them to see their ideas come to life, whether through creating digital artwork, presenting interactive slides, or coding simple projects.
Yes, several students have really embraced the new technology! For example, one student who previously struggled with writing assignments now uses a voice-to-text feature to express their ideas more confidently. Another student with a passion for art is excelling with digital drawing tools, creating projects that inspire the whole class. These tools are not just enhancing their learning but also boosting their self-esteem and excitement for coming to school every day.”

Funded Nov 15, 2021I waited almost a month before my project was funded, as the schools custodian wheeled the box into my classroom I had nothing but joy. I knew that my life as a preschool teacher would forever change because when students entered my classroom they knew that they had other options for seating in class other than traditional chairs or sitting on the floor.
Being a preschool teacher, you are limited to space and ways of implementing things such as independent seating, small group, or Work space / stations. I hope that for many more years these seats will make a impact on several other preschool students that comes throughout my classroom. I would hope that I can share future impact that you have on students throughout the years.”
