  • Look At This!

    Funded Apr 7, 2025

Thank you, again, for funding this project and supporting my students!

These supplies will arrive in time to set up my bulletin board to display the lab investigations that my students have completed.

I am always excited to create new projects that will secure supplies for my students, and I am always amazed when they get funded so quickly! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Smith

  • Stop, No, Start the Presses!

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

Thank you for funding this project that provided ink cartridges for my classroom. My students are eager to learn and are thriving this year! Unfortunately, sometimes the number of copies I receive is less than the number I requested, so being able to print copies as needed is wonderful!

My students come to my class each day, ready to learn, because they know that I have the materials that we will need to complete the lab activities and investigations. I am also glad that I can help the students with their work for other classes by being able to print simple assignments for them, since many of them do not have printers at home.

Knowing that I have ink cartridges for the rest of the year puts my mind at rest that I won't have to panic when it comes time for Regents review. I want to be able to have enough materials so that my students will be successful on the new State exams. Thank you for your continued support of my students!”

  • All Hands on Deck!

    Funded Nov 17, 2024

Thank you for donating to this project and providing my students with highlighters, spray bottles and overhead projector sheets.

When the materials arrived to our classroom, the students were excited to received the new supplies! When I explained that strangers donated because they cared about their education, the kids were shocked!

Having enough supplies allows the students to work in small groups, at their own pace, which increases their understanding of the various topics. Thank you for helping me do this!!”

  • Washed Away!

    Funded Oct 30, 2024

Thank you so much donating to this project! Having the stream table, sand and replacement parts is going to be very helpful when I assign the investigation to the students because they will be able to work in small groups, instead of doing the activity as a class demonstration.

When the materials first arrived in our classroom, my students were confused, because they couldn't understand how strangers would want to support their education. When they opened the boxes and I explained how I created projects on Donors Choose, their confusion changed to excitement!

My students enjoy completing lab activities in class, but they learn better when they can touch and feel the materials. Having multiple stream tables will allow me to create small groups, which will give the students more time to "play" and investigate erosion and the processes of the water cycle.

Thank you, again, for funding this project and supporting my students' education.”

  • X Marks the Spot

    Funded Sep 2, 2024

Thank you so much for donating to and funding this project! Having support from outside of school makes my planning a little easier.

I am so grateful that I now have enough 360-degree compasses so that my students can complete the new state-required labs.

My students are doing well with the new curriculum, they are learning new writing techniques and higher-level questioning strategies, and I am eager to work on the new investigations.

Thank you for supporting me and my students! I know that they will be successful on the new Regents in June!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Smith

  • Let's Investigate!

    Funded May 24, 2024

Thank you so much for donating to this project! The NYS Science Standards are changing starting this September, and I need to adjust and modify my lessons and lab supplies.

Having the spray bottles, towels, food coloring and cheesecloth will allow my students to set up experiments focusing on erosion and different variables. I am truly grateful for the continued support of the DonorsChoose community.

When all of the boxes arrived in my classroom, my students were both amazed and surprised! They were excited to learn about the new lab activities. I am eager to start the new year knowing that I have supplies for the new lab requirements.”

  • Measuring Success!

    Funded May 24, 2024

Thank you so much for funding this project so quickly!

When the scales arrived in our classroom, the students were so excited to learn that there are now enough for them to work in pairs instead of larger groups.

NYS has aligned the standards to the Next Generation Science Standards, and they require more student investigations and student-led inquiry. Having enough electronic balances will allow them to design and investigate problems that interest them, giving them more time to understand the concepts.

Thank you for your continued support of my students.”

  • Weathering Away

    Funded May 9, 2024

Thank you for funding this project! My students were so excited to learn that they would be receiving new supplies, they opened the box as soon as it arrived at our classroom!

NYS has changed the curriculum for Earth Science, and has implemented new lab investigations. The stream table is the key component in the first required lab!

I am so excited to start planning for the new science curriculum, and having the necessary materials makes the planning less stressful!

Thank you, DonorsChoose community, for your continued support of my students. My students still get surprised when I tell them that people outside of school care about their education and success.”

Help me bring my students into the 21st Century!! We are still dependent on copies because we don't have technology available to us! I teach Earth Science to 10-12 graders in a high-poverty school. Most of my students have never left the city, and have no idea of what a mine is or caverns look like. I also like to have them research different topics, which helps prepare them for college. Without technology, Earth Science is more like "worksheet science", because I can't utilize PowerPoint presentations or virtual field trips. By allowing my students access to the computer and Internet, it makes them better students and learners, which will enable them to be a better asset to colleges.
