Student Store: Reward System
Funded Mar 23, 2017The resources that we received for the Student Store truly help to sustain the longevity of the reward system. The students were ecstatic that they were able to have tangible items as a result of their hard work. For many, this was a motivator to improve their grades and/or their behavior.
Students would complete an order form and items would be delivered on a weekly basis. It was a joy to see their faces light up when they received their order from the student store. This system was a wonderful addition to the school's positive behavior support system and I know that it impacted the student's outlook on their grades and behavior. Thank you all how donated.”

Track & Field Team Supplies
Funded Dec 2, 2016The materials that were donated to our team this year were vital to their success. This year our runners were 5th overall at the district championship! This is an impressive feat as every single runner was running in their first season ever.
Their reactions when they first received their new drawstring backpacks with their socks an uniform was priceless. They felt official and as if they had something to show for their hard work. Students across the school could easily recognize a track member by their backpack!
Most of the other materials were essential for the actual track meets. Our runners were shaded from the South Florida sun in our new tent. We were easily able to carry all our supplies and food off the bus with the hand cart. Every track meet was a unique experience and made the students feel as if they were a part of something special.
The entire season they never had any worries except how fast to run!
Thank you.”

This classroom project was brought to life by DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation - Sports Matter and 17 other donors.Student Reward Store
Funded Oct 7, 2016The new student store has been more amazing then I could have imagined. A point system was implemented within the school and the students are very invested in improving their grades to get more points. The students can fill out order forms and request certain items that they want. Those orders are filled and delivered to the students. The big ticket items such as the tablets are what a lot of students are saving up to purchase with their points.
The opening of the store caused quite a frenzy as the students were able to see look through the windows and see all of the items that could be theirs! The goal is for the store to sustain throughout the entire year and reward students for their efforts in the classroom. It's been wonderful to hear students claim that they are going to try better in their classes to get more points.
Thank you for helping to start this school-wide initiative that is working to get our students invested in their education and on the right track!”

Track And Field Life Essentials
Funded Nov 17, 2015What a successful season this has been, and all in thanks to the generosity of others. When the students first saw all the materials that were donated they were ecstatic. As the items were delivered to my classroom each day the students said that it felt like Christmas everyday! The start of the training was encouraging with the donations as we trained and prepared for the competition season.
The duffel bags were by far the highlight of the donations. The students walked around school with pride as they used the duffel bags to secure their practice clothes. This was also the perfect addition to their warmups and we came off the bus each weekend unified and ready to compete. The spikes, and speed chutes were also invaluable. Many of the athletes spikes were worn down as they have had the shoes for almost 3 seasons. The speed chutes really allowed the sprinters to push themselves at practice and improve their speed. We also had a new set of batons ready for each relay team to practice with and compete with in the track meets. Finally, for the track meets the giant cooler and tent were extremely useful. Every Friday evening the entire team made sandwiches which we stored in the refrigerator and were able to bring to the meet in the cooler the following day. This was vital to the overall nutrition and performance of the student athletes. Also, in with this Miami weather the tent shielded us from the sun and rain on several occasions.
The North Miami Middle School track team finished the season placing second overall in the district. They are currently on their way to compete at the state track meet and an invitational in Jacksonville, FL. From my students and I we thank you for the amazing donation as it truly impacted our team this season.”
