No Question Left Behind
Funded Oct 19, 2022My students' hands raise so fast to answer questions now!! It seams surreal! Because of donors like yourself, their lifetime investment into education has deepened, tripling ten times over. It took extrinsic forces to motivate our stars intrinsically, and oh the places they'll go now! The possibilities are endless!
Getting to know the students' likes and dislikes, and fears, versus their dreams is kind of a once in a lifetime creation. You literally get to witness and help with the development of the future. The part that you played in assisting my students who live within a world that's already tough enough, has alleviated a huge burden from them. We are so grateful that people, such as yourself care enough to help progress the youth of our future.
Without donors like you, I wouldn't have been able to foster their love for creativity with such ease! Thank you a billion for all that you do!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Minor

This classroom project was brought to life by Male Teachers of Color Initiative.Kapow! Boom! Cool! Reading is a Fun Class!
Funded Sep 21, 2021The students immensely enjoyed the new resources, so much so in fact, that they flew off the shelves immediately. Granted, a lot of the items were perishables, the students' initial reactions were of shock and awe. I'd hear, "You got all of this for us?" and "Oh, you must like us-like us" throughout the days of its short-lived time in my class. The sweets were used for motivation tolls within the classroom, and as rewards for high academic achievement.
Of course, the items like the supplies are still in constant rotation, in use by those who needed, and at the ready for those still in need, should the needs arise. Come to think of it, I do recall seeing about 4 of those original folders on my shelf today. I'd better get on ordering some more of those, along with a boat load of stamps and anime stickers. What's interesting about this generation of students is that they love to demonstrate that they are more mature than they actually are, and yet, some things still remain the same in relation to the want for praise and the love of rewards and little trinkets that represent the things that they find interesting.
The next steps (which are currently underway) will be to seek ways to make the classroom more of a student-centered haven of a classroom, in which they can be fully immersed in an environment that they love. For instance, after getting to know the students well, and learning their likes and dislikes, I've discovered that they're very much into relaxation/calm and serene type of intricacies. They love salt lamps, LED's, incents, crystals, wax-melters, aromatherapy diffusers, calming waterfall sounds, and basically anything that represents what they call "good-vibes". This year (and heading into the next school year) I plan on arranging this little piece of paradise that they so enjoy. Granted, it is quite amazing that the students want to come to my class because of the relationships that we have built on a foundation of mutual respect and trust, via the rapport that we've each built with one another, but an awesome little utopia of a classroom never hurt anyone either. Again, if we haven't said it enough, my students and I thank you so very much for aiding us in taking the necessary steps in making this achievable. Wishing you, and yours many blessings.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Minor
