Welcome to my first-grade classroom. I teach at a school that receives Title 1 money and where approximately 90% of the students at our school receive free or reduced-rate lunch, and have low-income households. Despite the challenges that they face, they come to school eager to learn and willing to try new things. My students want and need hands-on learning, and I want to help provide that for them.
My classroom is culturally diverse, and I have many students that are considered high needs.
STEAM makes learning more fun and engaging, not to mention providing students with the freedom to use content knowledge and skills in ways that are pragmatic and relevant to the real world. STEAM activities will provide my students with the chance to use their higher-order and critical thinking skills to solve problems and teach them how to communicate, collaborate, and work together as a group.
