My school is located in a low income area. And 98% of the students qualify for free lunch programs. Most attend after-school programs and come from single parent homes. Their access to a library and bookstores is limited. Their primary source and exposure to reading materials are in the classroom and school library. Since the library is the first to suffer during budget cuts, the books needed are very rarely available.
