  • Whiteboards. BOOM! Instant Engagement.

    Funded Jan 16, 2019

It has been absolutely magical watching my students engage with their new materials. Small group and whole group instruction has been revolutionized with the influx of whiteboards and markers! They are excited to show their strategies and learn from one another. Also, the fidget bands have been incredibly influential to my students who need that extra stimulation. They are thrilled with the adjustment and feel much more successful while working at their seat. It is because of YOU that I was able to provide these supplies, and I can not thank you enough.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dexter

  • Personal Care for Student's Personal Best!

    Funded Nov 24, 2018

I can not say thank you enough. Each of your generous donations went towards supplying my students with warm coats, dry socks, and personal care items that they would not have otherwise. This may seem like an insignificant step, but it makes a huge difference in their lives! Because of you, they are able to worry less about meeting their basic needs, and put more of an effort towards their learning and education. I wish you could see all of the smiles, hear all of the "thank you" and get all of the hugs! My students deserve the best and by supporting this project, you helped them get just a little bit closer.”

  • All Are Welcome: Diverse Books and Art Supplies

    Funded Oct 24, 2018

Thank you so much for making these new books a reality in my classroom! With them, I have had the privilege of seeing students light up when they see a character that looks like them, comes from a similar community, or just someone who they can identify with. These new texts have deepened their interest in character development, as well as their ability to build empathy and sympathy with characters. They have also opened up the doors for real conversations about community, culture, and how that applies to us in our own classroom space.

These diverse books have changed our read aloud time to become a more meaningful opportunity for dialogue, questions, and conversation. Their engagement with the books is priceless, and all thanks to your support. All of my students have benefited from this influx of new literature, and I have been sharing them with other teachers, so they are spreading the word of inclusivity across our campus!”

  • Shhh. Noise Reducing Headphones for Second Grade Learners!

    Funded Dec 1, 2017

This is just a small token of my appreciation for your generous donation to my students and to my classroom. The headphones that you donated have helped my students every single day, and in every single subject. They have learned how to regulate their use of the headphones, and this has helped to create self-aware students who can take control of their own learning! They keep their pair of headphones at their desk, and are free to wear them whenever they feel it necessary. This provides a comfortable learning environment for each student.

Our school district is currently facing a budget shortfall, so without your help, my students would never have had access to these headphones, and in turn, had a much more difficult time accessing curriculum in the classroom. I can't thank you enough for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dexter

My classroom is full of curious readers, authors, scientists, and mathematicians. My students attend a Title I school in Oakland, California with a school-wide free breakfast and lunch program. Many of my students come from families and communities that have experienced some form of trauma and often have difficulty coming to school. The typical student in my classroom has felt the stress and uncertainty of homelessness, hunger, loss and so much more. My students are survivors and thinkers, who push through these tribulations to question, dream, and inspire. Together, we show up and work hard each and every day to grow as life-long learners and critical thinkers.
