  • Inner-City Students Need a Washer and Dryer

    Funded Apr 10, 2019

Words cannot express my gratitude for your attention and support for my project. The project is geared towards supporting our students who are living in unstable and unhealthy conditions. Our students are directly affected by the hard choices their parent(s) must make; Like paying rent and utilities vs. putting food on the table and washing and drying clothes.

We thank you for your heartfelt donations.”

  • Let's Get Their Creative Juices Flowing Now on Multipurpose Paper!

    Funded Dec 31, 2018

Thank you for choosing to donate to our class project. Our school is listed as a title one school in an overcrowded district with nearly one thousand students from various and similar backgrounds.

Many of the students in our integrated co-teaching classroom cannot afford simple educational resources such as colored paper that would differentiate their learn and allow the classroom space to come to life with color.

The paper will give them the ability to track their progress using color-coded paper during the writing process at various stages.

The students are very thankful for the color paper to identify their projects at different levels — many thanks.”

  • Wait! My Students Need School Supplies

    Funded Dec 31, 2018

Thank you all for your donations to our class project. Our school is a Title I school which has nearly one thousand students from various and similar backgrounds.

The majority of our students are struggling to receive the best education possible while dealing with the circumstances of living in a poor and overcrowded school district. I believe that empowering students is essential in developing their critical thinking skills. With that said, my students are using the materials you donated to support them in progressing toward meeting the common core standards. Some of those areas include writing in reading literacy, math, informational writing and completing reading responses to be career and college ready.”

  • iPevo Document Camera = Interactive Magnified Math and Science Experiments!

    Funded Oct 30, 2018

We appreciate you. The IPEVO V4K Ultra High Definition USB Document Cameras and the Great MacBook Air Charger to keep the computer charged when attached to document camera are just what we needed. With that said, there was not a single document camera in our in classroom science lab for the students to use to zoom in on science experiments as there are doing the processes of trial and error. We are thankful for these document cameras; each student group will be able to share real-time images in both Math, Science and ELA activities.”

  • Food Drive: Let's Make PBIS Rewards Great Again!

    Funded Jan 1, 2018

Many thanks to each and every one of you for all the overwhelming support given to my "Food Drive: Let's Make PBIS Rewards Great Again!" project.

This project is dear to my heart because so many of our students are not able to actually "shop" because of the tight budgets their families must follow in order to have their basic needs met.

The Food Drive: Let's Make PBIS Rewards Great Again!" project rewards to our kiddos. The program give teachers the ability to reward students for good behaviors. And our students gain hands-on experience by earning Steptoe Bucks and using them to purchase 'goodies' that they may not be able to purchase outside of school.

The students from PreK-8th grade were very impressed with amount of food prizes and are definitely motivated to earn good behavior Steptoe Bucks. Thank you again for the snacks, food and juices that you have donated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Walcott

  • Umbrellas: Keeping Our Kiddos 100% Healthy! Rainfall or Boiling Sunshine!

    Funded Sep 25, 2017

Thank you for helping our struggling students, community, and school environment. Unlike many school-age students living or going to school in other districts, when a student metro card is misplaced or lost, our parents can not afford to pay for regular cards. Therefore, students have to walk through heavy rainfall or boiling hot sunshine. Yes, there are times when walking to school is comfortable and enjoyable. However, there are those times at dismissal, when it is raining cat and dogs. Your donations will allow the students to go to the main office to borrow an umbrella to use to walk home and return to the school community for the next struggling student to use.

    Your donation is greatly appreciated:)”

  • College & Career Readiness #3: Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

Anonymous donors, DonorsChoose and The #BestSchoolDay, our school is a Title I school which has nearly 1000 students from various and similar backgrounds all of whom are struggling to receive the best education possible while dealing with the circumstances of living in a poor and overcrowded school district. With that said, we are grateful for the new Sure bonder Cool Shot Low-Temperature Mini Glue Gun and glue sticks to go along with it. The students are now able to use the tools and materials to complete group and individual projects. These projects include houses of straw or sticks, animals, people and whatever else they can imagine and illustrate about career readiness in building and management.”

  • #1 Differentiated Instructional Guides and Student Workbooks

    Funded Mar 21, 2017

I am truly grateful for your donation of Student Workbooks and Teacher Guides to engage each student in learning and utilize instructional time effectively. I am delighted to prepare lessons that are differentiated, great and exciting to engage students with disabilities in learning. With that said, I can plan much more hands on student lessons that are differentiated for my 6-8 grade special education class. Usually, these guides are divided into several parts to engage students in learning: Pre-reading activities to build students' prior knowledge and provide points of entry prior to reading the text; summaries of the chapters and teaching suggestions to what happens in the chapter as well as various activities I can use to engage my students in critical thinking about the each chapter or passage and post-reading activities help students fuse their reading and make connections to other aspects of their learning.

    Your donations are greatly appreciated!”

  • Long Reach Stapler Needed: Totem Poles, Bulletin Boards, Student 3-D Projects!

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

I am truly appreciative for your donation of a flexible stapler as our classroom supplies are dwindling at a rapid rate. We needed staplers that were not cheaply made and that will stay locked and opens up every time we need it too. As an update, the flexible Swingline Long Reach Stapler was used to put up our Native American Museum, create brochures and tepees. The stapled work is now organized and neat without tons of extra unwanted bends, creases, and folds, nor extra stapler holes in the papers, bulletin boards, and student cardboard construction displays.

Again, thank you all so much. Your donations are greatly appreciated!”

  • Recycling Old Cardboard Boxes into Supply Organizers with Con-tact Paper

    Funded Jan 24, 2017

Thank you very much for your donations to our Recycling boxes project.

Most of the students at our school are dealing with the circumstances of living in a poor and overcrowded school district. Your donations to our project have greatly improved my students' organizational skills and improve our classroom environment. The recycle boxes have given the students a sense of ownership and pride in storing books of their choices and completed work. With that said, they will need to continue practicing organizational skills which is an important skill used for College and Career Readiness. The con-tact helped students to repair and keep our class text books in good condition for years to come.”

Our amazing students are mostly descendants of Mexican and West Indian backgrounds. By the end of the school year our students should be able to improve their reading and writing comprehension skills by at least one grade level. My favorite quote for the students is, "You become what you think about." My students have shared with me dreams of graduating and moving on to the next grade level. My biggest challenge in getting the students there is lack of technology and resources.(ex: interactive smart board, basic supplies, healthy snacks, personal care package) My quote relates to my students' social and emotional growth. With my guidance the students have set short and long term goals to help make their dream of graduating a reality.
