I teach for a middle school in Arizona. Many students in this area come from primarily low income homes. All students receive free or reduced lunches. Many live in homes where parents did not attend college. When talking with these students, some seem to have resigned themselves to living in our town and working in the fields, as their parents do. Very few have hopes of going to college and making a better life for themselves. My students just need the opportunity to be excited about something that fascinates them. And nothing is more fascinating than SCIENCE!
