  • Sensory Room Supplies for Students with Special Needs

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

What an exciting time it was to go to the sensory room and reveal the new opportunities for engagement. The previous tunnel had to be removed because it was destroyed through play this new tunnel immediately got full use. This tunnel though is much better made. The students enjoyed crawling through and looking out the windows.

We also got new things to touch and play. The sensory room is returning to a place of calmness and engagement. Thank you for expanding our offerings. Student learning after the sensory room use is already increasing.”

    Mr. Yates

  • Reinforcers for Autistic Child Learners

    Funded Sep 9, 2024

What wonderful gifts which immediately impacted the learning environment. These toys motivated children to want to learn. They got excited by the lights or the textures of the toys. I can't thanknyou enough for making the learning environment fun.

It was a challenging quarter or learning but because of your great gifts we got a lot of learning done.

Please continue to support our classroom and the important work the students are doing to learn how to communicate, read, write and do math. These toys actually helps with all of it.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Yates

  • Sensations in the Sensory Room

    Funded Aug 23, 2024

What a great blessing this gift was this quarter..immediately the students with more visual sensory needs became excited at the new light wand. The stretchy toys significantly excited the students who like touch to want to participate in learning. The new chewie were more vital than I knew because we got a new student with severe needs to be biting on something because of your gift it was something appropriate.

Your gifts made it possible to have learning this quarter and into the next quarters. Thank you for your generous donations.”

  • Easy Shade Set Up on the Blacktop

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

This project made the whole school better. Immediately students were able to get a break from the heat on the blacktop during the very hot September days in stockton. The quick ease of putting up the one person campus meant that everyone could put them up and take them down. The canopies are safely stored. Staff fell safer as they watch students during recess. Students enjoying sitting under the campus and talking with friends. I love the fact that everyone know is more willing to let the children play because they know that they won't be overcome in the heat. Thank you very much.”

    Mr. Yates

  • Replacing Broken Furniture

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

Wow does this work so much better than the broken down changing table that was there. Now the classroom looks put together and the students behaviors decrease as we are able to manage the layout of the room better. In addition, we can get to the materials much faster.

Thank you so.much for making this much needed repair happen.

It is so nice to.easily see where each student's materials are located.

Being able to place necessary materials that are covered by the easy to pull out boxes make them quick to get too but not distracting to little hands.”

  • Peace on a Rainy Day for Autistic Children

    Funded May 11, 2024

What a joy it was to tell my staff of your generous gift to the school. Immediately as we unveiled the use for the sensory room wall, even though it was the heat of the summer, my staff got excited for the cold rainy days of winter. Now the sensory room will be able to be easily divided making it safe for two classrooms to use the space.

Your generous gift is an encouragement to me and our whole staff. We can create a great space for our students. In this year we have been able to help students manage behaviors through the sensory room. Now it won't matter if it is raining or sunny.”

  • Fun Craft Art Projects in Special Day Classroom

    Funded May 7, 2024

It was so exciting to unwrap the materials for our art supplies for next year. The paraprofessionals in the classroom already began to feel the excitement of a year to come. This year was incredibly challenging as we changed a lot of staff, and I experienced personal tragedy with the loss of my mother. Our art projects certainly suffered, as I usually pick a few things from the web to complete.

Thanks to the donations of the DonorsChoose Community, next year's projects will be engaging, beautiful, and fun! I am also thrilled that I will not have to use my limited personal resources to provide these projects for the students.

Thank you so much for your generosity.

  • Reinforcer Toys

    Funded Jan 24, 2024

The first words out of one my student's mouths was "I" ... "Want" ... "Box, teacher." Others are using PECS to request sand. These toys are immediately a huge hit in the classroom. Inappropriate behaviors are down. Classroom learning is up.

Thank you for helping to make my classroom an engaging place for all learners. These toys are key in providing safe rewards. With fun rewards there is motivation to communicate and a reason to discover the joy of learning. Even my principal came to my class looking for motivators for a kindergarten student. Your gifts are blessing the whole school. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Yates

  • Sensory Items!

    Funded Dec 12, 2023

Every student was so excited to see that the kinetic sand had arrived! Now all four classes are able to use it. In the end of our 2023 the rains poured so we went in for more inside sensory room time. The sand was a big hit. I know that next year even more rain is expected and creativity will be molded by this sand.

The chewies are much nicer and look even a little more fashionable to wear around the neck. One student who needed it really enjoyed the strong more than the chewy but it kept him doing something safer.

Have a Happy New Year knowing your gift went a long way!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Yates
