I grew up in San Francisco and attended public schools K-12 here, so it is extremely fulfilling to be back in a school in my community (albeit in a different role now).
I teach chemistry in a large comprehensive high school. The students across all my chemistry classes come from diverse experiences and backgrounds. Some of them have worked jobs after school until the evenings to support their families. Others are already taking community college classes on top of their high school classes. Despite being from different backgrounds, one thing my students have in common is their desire to learn and do their best in my class, and I want to give them what they need to succeed.
