  • Books For Social Skills

    Funded Oct 26, 2018

Oh my goodness, how wonderful is was to see the looks on my student's faces when they received a holiday gift from the classroom! It was such a wonderful experience for the staff and students. The book, What Do You Do With A Chance, by Kobi Yamada, is one of the best books I've ever read to my class. It asks you to think a different way about a problem and turn it into an opportunity. It has been a favorite book for all my students this year and the look on their face when they had their own copy was priceless!

Thank you from the bottom of my teacher's heart for helping me give my kids an amazing book. I would never have been able to do without the kindness and generosity of the DonorsChoose.org community. Please know you have made such a positive difference in the lives of my very deserving students.”

  • Going Big in Art Class!

    Funded Aug 22, 2018

Thank you so much for helping me provide a large format printer to our school. It has taken many months to get it set up and working with our district technology protocols but we are now able to start using this amazing resource. Although we didn't get it set up in time for the art class that our students were taking, we'll have it available next term which will be great. Right now we are using it to print off posters for gym/health and for enlarging worksheets that are then laminated and used by our students on a daily basis which allow them to see what they need to write on their papers.

Please know that this new printer will get used by the whole school as well as my classroom. Thank you for making a positive difference in the lives of our students.”

  • Keeping It Clean

    Funded Aug 21, 2018

My students have absolutely loved having responsibility for helping to keep our classroom clean and tidy. Although the vacuum is a very popular choice for students to use, I was blown away by the fascination my boys had for using the "magic eraser" sponge to get black marks, crayon marks and grime off of wall, floors and furniture. I have at least 2-3 volunteers each time I bring out these items. We truly appreciate having the Clorox wipes to keep germs at bay, which is always a challenge in a special education classroom. The hand soap, dish soap and towels are used on a daily basis.

Thank you so very much for your support and generosity. Please know that you have made a positive difference in the lives of my amazing students.”

  • Fun Financial Literacy

    Funded Mar 30, 2018

What an amazingly successful project this has been! My students had little to no consumer math skills until I started this project and now their ability to count bills, use the next dollar up strategy and use money in real life situations has increased dramatically. We have also seen an increase in "on task" behaviors and kindness since offering the students opportunities to earn money to spend in our class store. The toys, fidgets and art supplies were a big hit and allowed me to "open" our store twice last spring and once this fall. We finished off the year by visiting Taco Bell and ordering food with our new found money skills!

Thank you for making such a positive difference in the lives of my very deserving students!”

  • Working Hard to Show Appreciation

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I've been fortunate to have many projects funded through DonorsChoose.org grants but this by far has been one of my very favorite. My idea with this project was to provide my student an authentic work task that gives back to the teachers in our school by providing them much needed school supplies such as binder clips, pens, markers, pencils and sticky notes. We set up a system of counting out supplies, packaging them into bundles and then putting the supplies in a tote bag for teachers. During teacher appreciation week my students delivered these much needed materials to each teacher in the building. It was a wonderful activity that taught them so many skills.

Thank you so very much for making a positive difference in the lives of my students and the teachers at school.”

  • We Love Art!

    Funded Jan 25, 2018

Thank you so very much for your generosity and support of my "We Love Art" project. It's been so wonderful to have these art materials, storage bins and video splitter to support my students. We have made lovely cards for Mother's Day with the gel pens, markers and stamp pads. For teacher appreciation week the kids decorated over 50 bags with lovely stamps for a special teacher treat and we used the glittery foam to create thank you pictures for our cafeteria staff.

We've also put to good use the video splitter so we can have both the document camera and computer hooked up to the projector. The bins have added much needed storage to our art cupboard and the long reach hole punch has allowed me to create fun and interactive reading activities that I can't do with a standard hole punch.

Thank you for making a positive difference in the lives of my very deserving young students.”

  • Stocking Up for Spring

    Funded Jan 26, 2018

Thank you so much for supporting our Stocking Up For Spring project. My students have definitely benefited from having a fresh supply of ink, card stock and storage materials in our classroom. I used the TeachersPayTeachers gift card to purchase new and exciting activities for reading, writing and math which the kids love. The item they are most excited about was the microphone with built in speaker which is used every day during whole group activities. A few of my students speak so quietly that it's hard to hear them, but with the microphone they are easily heard and more willing to speak in front of the class.

Thank you for your kind donation and please know that you have made a positive difference in the lives of my very deserving students.”

  • Art Attack!

    Funded Sep 1, 2017

Thank you so much for providing my students with amazing art materials in our classroom. Art can be such an wonderful activity for students who experience sensory and communication challenges. We have so many different ability levels in our classroom but art enjoyed by every student at every level. Having bins and containers to store our new art materials means that we can be tidy and put away things when we are finished. The gel pens, play dough and ribbon have been very popular. We have used the laminate film and construction paper to make covers for our art scrapbooks which will go home at the end of the year.

We truly appreciate your support and want you to know that you have made a positive difference in the lives of some very deserving students.”

    With gratitude,

  • Technology and Treats for Tolerance

    Funded Sep 16, 2017

Thank you so very much for supporting my students and helping me bring these materials to my classroom. It is such a blessing to have the materials we need at hand and ready at a moments notice. My students have really benefited from having flexible seating options such as the ball chairs. It was wonderful to see them not only use the chairs but to help assemble them and inflate them with the new air pump. We've also benefited from having walkie talkies for staff to communicate when students are outside or in the cafeteria. We are waiting for our district to work out the kinks in implementing the Apple TV, but once they are able to overcome the technology obstacles we'll be able to use it to project lessons and activities to our SMARTboard wirelessly. Finally, the snacks and treats are truly appreciated by the students, especially after working hard all day. Thank you for making a positive difference in the lives of my truly deserving students.”
