  • Watch Us Glow!

    Funded Nov 2, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my project, "Watch Us Glow!" I love planning fun ways for students to practice basic skills. An ordinary learning game or skills practice can become magical when the lights go off and the learning starts to glow. Black lights, glow sticks and bright paper will provide a fun experience that students won't forget.

I also love to reward students for positive behavior and celebrate academic accomplishments. A glow party will be a fun celebration for students.

Your donation means so much! Thank you for helping me bring these experiences alive for my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Powers

  • Snacks for Students After Hurricane Ian

    Funded Oct 17, 2022

I can not tell you how much your generosity and willingness to help my students means to me. Families in my school have suffered as a result of Hurricane Ian. Your donations helped provide snacks for students to have at school. Students were thrilled and excited to see the boxes arrive in our classroom. They were excited about all of the choices they have for snacks at school. Some students have few choices of snacks at home, and it is a treat to have them at school. Families are thankful to have help and will have one less thing to worry about when sending their children to school. Thank you for caring and for making our school day better for students.”

  • "Fire" Ready

    Funded Nov 11, 2018

Thank you for donating to this project. My students LOVE using these tablets to read books online and to work on learning games. During the time that I'm working with small groups and leading guided reading groups, other students are working at learning stations. We have several desktop computers where the students complete online work on our required learning programs. Others are completing hands on games and activities focusing on word work, writing, reading fluency, and grammar. The tablets are now the most popular station in my room!

Your donation was used to purchase a charging station and covers for the tablets. I can not thank you enough for helping get our tablets ready to use!

Thank you so much for helping make learning fun for my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Powers

  • Fill the Bellies So They Can Focus

    Funded Dec 14, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to this project! Because of your generous donation, students received snacks that helped them focus on learning instead of focusing on being hungry. Many of my students are from homes where budgets are tight. Parents are working long hours. Snacks are often too expensive or too inconvenient for households. Thank you for looking out for those children.

When my students saw the snacks that you provided, their eyes lit up. There is nothing better than seeing the excitement in their eyes. When I explained that other people knew we could use the snacks, they immediately wanted me to thank you.”

    Mrs. Powers

  • 1st Grade STEM - Where Creativity Begins

    Funded Sep 19, 2018

Thank you so much for funding my project, 1st Grade STEM - Where Creativity Begins. "Wow! These toys are so cool!" My students were so excited to see the new STEM materials. One student called across the room to another, "Look what we got from Donors Choose!" Your generosity warms my heart. There is nothing like seeing students excited to learn at school. Thank you for helping me make these early learning experiences fun and meaningful.

My students are wildly creative and they have used the materials in this project and their imaginations to build computers, cities, a theme park, and so much more! They've used the scientific process to question, plan, problem - solve, and adjust a plan while using these materials. I'm excited to see what they create! We will enjoy these material for years to come.”

    Mrs. Powers

  • Creating Community on the Carpet

    Funded Jun 23, 2018

My students were so excited to have a rug in our classroom! My students' eyes were huge as they entered our room and saw it for the first time. They quickly fell in love with the colors and the circles on the rug.

Your donations have not only brightened our classroom and made it a more beautiful place to be, it has improved the learning experience. Since students have their own spot to sit, their attention has greatly improved. Students have a clearing defined space and do not have to worry about where to sit and about whether someone is too close to them.

I look forward to using this rug for many years to come as the quality of it is so much greater than any rug I could afford on my own. Thank you again for your donations and support, I look forward to many more years of use!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Powers
