  • Hugs from my Students for a New Rug

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for giving such a wonderful gift to my class. The rug is the hear of our class. It is where we start and end our daily with morning meetings. Students also gather here to work on class projects, practice their English Language Development and celebrate parties.

Our old was in the wrong language and extremely dirty. When they students first saw the rug they were amazed at how clean it was. They bounced around from square to square saying the letter name and sound and the picture associated with it. Students are still amazed by it.

We will continue to have the carpet be the center of our class. Students for many many years to come will get to enjoy it. The carpets helps aide students in developing their phonics skills. Thank you for choosing our class to help! You have made lots of people very happy.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crane

  • Bring Color to My Students' Lives!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for providing my class with a color printer. Things that should be printed in color are often print in black and white due to funding. Recently I purchased CVC puzzles online, where students need to read the word and find the correct picture. Now that you gifted us a new color printer the student cant put the puzzles down. They are engaged and learning how to read! Our class is a happier more colorful engaging place because of your donation. I will use this for many years to come and it will engage hundreds of students. Thank you so very much!”

  • Art for a Creative Mind and Bright Future

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so very much for your large donation to my classroom. My students and I quickly put all the art materials to use! I try and bring science into my classroom as often as possible, and when all the materials came we were in the middle of growing sunflowers. The project would have ended at that, but because of your large donation we were able to draw the different stages of growing with the markers you donated. At the end the students painted their sunflower on card stock and gave it to their mom as a mothers day gift.

When my students first saw the materials they thought it Christmas morning! So often in class they ask to do art but we just don't have the materials needed. With your materials we have done several painting projects, made color wheels, used markers weekly, and expressed ourselves through art, a lost art!

We plan to make a graduation sign to remind parents of the ceremony, write and decorate thank you cards for staff on campus that can get forgotten about, such as lunch ladies, custodial staff, and aides. These art projects will also go to great use for me students next year! You truly have made a difference so thank you very much.”

  • Hugs for a New Rug!

    Funded Feb 1, 2018

Thank you so much for donating a new rug to our class. Our old rug was in the new language so students were not able to use it as a literacy resource. Currently students are doing word work, reading, writing, math and much more on the carpet. I often see them students using the rug as an intervention resource, using the pictures to help them figure out letter names and sounds. My students like the rug so much that they often ask to work their during independent time instead of their desks.

My students knew that we had this project posted and that it was a need for our class so they often asked the progress on it. The morning I got the carpet I decided to take away the old carpet and see if they could problem solve and figure out why. It took a couple minutes but students soon realized that I got rid of the old carpet because we got our new one that was requested. I decided to let them help me open the package. We each took turns taking the plastic off and rolling it out as a whole group. The students loved talking about all the letters and the pictures that represented each letter. The spent time laying on it, and moving around to different squares. They continue to talk about it and show excitement.

Students will continue to spend majority of their time at the carpet. The students come here daily for our morning meeting to discuss our focus for the day and come together at the end of the day to discuss our success and things that we can work on for the day. Thank you so much for giving our class a clean, language, and grade level appropriate rug for my class to gather around.”

  • Bring Back PE!

    Funded Nov 29, 2017

Thank you so much for donating your money to our classroom. Things like P.E., art, science, music and much more as taken a back seat and lost funding due to a lack of a proper budgets in the schools. However, because of donors like you students are once again able to experience these important academic opportunities. In the past student's experience of "P.E" was running around the playground and sharing two deflated balls between four classes. Your donation as allowed them to have true and fun physical education. When they first saw all the new "toys" (as the students call them), they couldn't believe they were all theirs. They kept asking "We get to use them? They stay in our room for us?" The students felt like it was Christmas morning when we opened the boxes.

We use the parachute once or twice a month, which is the students favorite. It is a great way to teach team work. I don't think I have ever heard my class laugh so much. I am also lending it to other classes 28 classes on campus so hundreds of students are getting use out of it. The students also love to use the scoop set, new balls, jumpers, and skippers. My students are also learning the importance of sharing. There is such a high demand for them we have had to set a schedule so every student gets access to them weekly. Chalk has been a big hit for them, I have taught them four square, hop scotch, avoid the shark and much more.

Your donation has also opened the discussion of the importance of giving back to your community and while many of my students and their families do not have money to donate we have discussed other ways they can give back. Every time we use your donated equipment we talk about where it came from and the students understand that if it wasn't for you they would not get to experience this fun new equipment. We will continue to get great exercise, learn how to share, talk about the importance of giving back, learn new games and have fun because of your donation. I cannot thank you enough for choosing my classroom to help. From the bottom of my heart I send my most sincere appreciation and the students do as well.”

  • Give a Class an Easel Today, Help Them Learn Forever!

    Funded May 31, 2017

Thank you very much for the generous donation to my classroom. Your large gift will make it possible for years and years of students to have a place to gather around. The easel is the heart of a classroom. Where students start and end there day and where the main focus of the day is.

In the past students were not able to approach my old easel because it easily broke apart and was dangerous. Students are now able to sit close to it, write on the easel as well as do their spelling practice. The easel is just as much theirs as it is mine. My students loved the size and that it was green. We spend a lot of timing storing our books, special notes and writing on it. The "star student" is the one who gets to wipe it down at the end of the day and help with placing tomorrows date on it which is always very special for the students.

Students currently use the easel to edit the morning message. Adding periods, or special letters and numbers. However in the future the students will be the ones writing majority of this special message on the easel. In August the easel holds mostly letter names and sounds and basic numbers skills but by the end the year students will reading, writing sentences and using it to display their addition and subtraction skills. This tool will help them progress daily.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crane

A classroom is more than just a room where students come and go to learn for 180 days. In my class students read their first book, write their first paragraph, do their first math equation, meet their first best friend, loose their fist tooth, and many more thing important firsts. Our class is our second home and our second family. During the school year we spend majority of our time here, working hard daily, creating, collaborating, and critically thinking. Without donors like you a lot of the fun, engaging, and important things that happen in our class would not be possible.
