  • Cozy Learning: Providing Students a Comfy Classroom Rug

    Funded Jul 11, 2023

I am thrilled to share the incredible impact your generous support has had on my special education classroom since the arrival of the Safavieh 9' x 12' handmade wool rug. The transformation has been nothing short of remarkable, and I am eager to express my gratitude for the positive changes it has brought to my smart, creative, and kind-hearted students.

The moment the new rug was unveiled, the reaction from my students was priceless. Their eyes lit up with excitement and wonder as they took in the vibrant colors. The rug added joy and inspiration to our entire classroom. The plush texture and inviting atmosphere of the rug have turned it into a focal point for our learning space.

In practical terms, the rug has become a versatile tool for fostering collaboration and engagement. We now have a cozy and comfortable gathering place for various activities, discussions, and projects. The students gravitate towards this central space, and it has become a hub for exploring subjects, reading stories, and sparking their imaginations. The impact on their overall sense of safety, well-being, and focus has been clear, and I can already see how it has contributed to a more positive and conducive learning environment.

Your support has not only provided a physical object but has also contributed to the creation of a brighter and more inviting future for these wonderful students. The impact of your generosity extends beyond the rug itself; it is shaping the experiences and memories that my students will carry with them throughout their lives. Thank you for believing in this project and for making a meaningful difference in the lives of these incredible learners.”

  • Enable Students with Reading Disabilities to Independently Access Classroom Content!

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation for your support and the profound impact it has had on my students' learning journey. The C-Pen Readers you graciously provided have been truly transformative, empowering my students with dyslexia and reading difficulties to confidently access learning materials and actively participate in their general education classrooms.

To help you understand how these C-Pen Readers are positively impacting my student's learning and participation, I'll share some information on how the technology works. The C-Pen Reader utilizes cutting-edge Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, allowing students to effortlessly scan printed text and hear it read to them. Its capability to read books, worksheets, and various materials aloud has proven instrumental in supporting students with reading challenges, enhancing their comprehension of content, and strengthening their language skills. The C-Pen Reader has become an invaluable assistive tool, equipping my students with the means to productively engage with classroom content.

The most exciting aspect of the C-Pen Reader for my students is the newfound independence it brings. One student, in particular, struggles significantly with producing speech sounds and experienced severe challenges in reading, despite comprehending and wanting to engage with general education topics. Prior to using the C-Pen Reader, he heavily relied on adult support to access independent work. However, with the C-Pen Reader, he can now scan and listen to texts independently. This has boosted his academic confidence and engagement in the classroom, as he can fully access the materials on his own terms.

Witnessing the enthusiasm and warmth with which my students have embraced this new technology has been incredible. The C-Pen Reader has opened up a world of possibilities for them, empowering them by reducing reading obstacles and enabling increased participation in classroom activities. It has become an invaluable tool for their learning journey, bridging the gap between their abilities and access to learning materials.

Once again, I extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your support. Your generosity has empowered my students, enabling them to be less impacted by reading obstacles. The C-Pen Reader has been an instrumental tool in transforming their learning experiences, fostering their confidence, and igniting their passion for knowledge. Your contribution has made an ensuring mark on their academic growth, and we are forever grateful.”

  • Creating a Safe and Calm Learning Environment with Light Covers

    Funded Dec 8, 2022

I am immensely grateful for your support and the positive impact it has had on my students and our classroom. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to introduce the beautiful cherry blossom light covers to our special education classroom, and the impact has been remarkable.

When my students first saw the light covers, their reactions were a mix of excitement and wonder. Their faces lit up as they noticed the delicate cherry blossom design and the change the light covers made to the room's atmosphere. It was a joy to witness their appreciation and gratitude for the improved atmosphere in our classroom. The light covers have created a space that feels more safe, comforting, and conducive to learning.

Since the arrival of these light covers, my students' experience in the classroom has been transformed. The harsh fluorescent lighting that used to put them on edge has been replaced with a soft and gentle glow. This change has had a profound effect on their well-being and ability to concentrate. The students now feel more comfortable and at ease, allowing them to focus on their learning with greater clarity and reduced anxiety.

Once again, I want to express my heartfelt thanks for your support. Your contribution has made a tangible difference in the lives of my students. Through the introduction of the cherry blossom light covers, you have helped create an inclusive and nurturing learning space where my students can thrive. Your belief in their potential is empowering and inspiring. Together, we are making a lasting impact on their educational journey.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Van Patten
