  • Engaging Literacy Center Materials!

    Funded Apr 26, 2010

The Kindergarten and 1st graders in my classroom are thrilled to have more books and rhyming teaching tubs to use during our literacy time! As shown in the pictures, the sight word readers have been a great way for emerging readers to begin reading and practicing the sight words that they have learned this year. Kindergarteners who are beginning to sound out words as well as those who are well on their way in reading have been drawn to these attractive sight word readers.

Students have been reviewing the sight words they know by writing down the words that they find in the book, and also by using them in their own sentences. It also helps with students who are English Language Learners so that they can look at the picture cues in the sentences along with the words. The rhyming tubs have also been a great resource for students who sort through and organize objects by the rhyming sound.

Thank you for your generous donation to this project. My students have been excited and continue to be as they work with these new materials. Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Staab

  • Fun Alphabet Letter Sound Tubs!

    Funded Apr 22, 2010

I just want to tell you how your contributions have made such a difference in my classroom! The Alphabet Tubs are really an amazing tool that have helped my students to learn more vocabulary, letter sounds, and the spelling of different words. I have asked students to use the tubs to sort by initial, middle, and endings sounds, play a memory game, and to write sentences/stories using the objects.

The best part of the Alphabet Tubs is that my students are excited to use it and to work with it! I love watching my students enjoy learning and be motivated to get better in their phonics/literacy skills using these materials. I hope the pictures show just how much my students have enjoyed working with these materials. Your donation is much appreciated and is put to use every single day! Thank you!

    With gratitude,

  • Books for Students to Fall in Love with Reading!

    Funded Apr 21, 2010

Thank you so much for sharing in my vision to help students ignite a passion for reading! Kindergarteners and 1st graders are drawn to beautifully illustrated pictures, and these books will be a great way for them to be inspired by the drawings as well as the writing. My students will be so excited to be able to read the new books and learn different reading/writing strategies from them.

You have inspired me with your generosity and my students will be equally inspired by your desire to help them grow into amazing readers and writers. You are helping me to plant a seed: to love and appreciate reading through the books that you have donated to our classroom.

You should've seen the look of their faces when I showed them all of the books that were donated! Students spent at least half an hour perusing through the books and exclaiming at the selection! I hope the pictures I posted show of their excitement :)

Thank you from all of the Kindergarten and 1st graders from my class!”

    With gratitude,
