  • Geography for Young Learners!

    Funded Feb 7, 2012

Thank you so much for helping to fund this project! Teaching young children about geography and educating them about what the world around is like has been so much more impactful with these new materials! Hands-on learning helps students to engage and connect with the concept and new ideas that they are learning about. They have been so excited to get to use these fun new activities and learn about science and geography. Thank you so much for helping me make that happen in my classroom. We are so grateful!”

  • Technology in the Classroom!

    Funded Feb 7, 2012

Thank you so much for funding this project! My students were amazed to see that our classroom had its own laptop! We downloaded many different educational websites and students have been getting used to being able to use the laptop and access the information they need. Each student is assigned a day when they get to use the laptop and they are always looking forward to their "day" that they get to be on the laptop. Thank you so much for helping to fund this exciting new device that helps to keep our classroom current and up to date! Thank you.”

  • The Nook: An E-Reader For The Classroom!

    Funded Apr 23, 2012

Thank you so much for the Nook: E-Reader that was donated to our classroom! My students were thrilled to be able to have a class nook and use it to read and listen to books! For many, it was their first time seeing and using an e-reader. Others were just excited to be able to use it freely during our work time. Thank you for helping to fund this reader so that my students can get more exposure to the ever-changing and increasing technology. I believe it is important to educate children and keep things in the classroom current. Thank you again!”

  • First & Second Grade Scientists!

    Funded Sep 11, 2011

Almost every single day before the microscope arrived, students would ask me when it would be ready for them to use. It is such a popular work in our classroom! Because of the intricacies and how fragile it is, students take it very seriously how they handle and care for our microscope. I hear the "oooh's" and "aaah's" about the rabbit fur or the bird feathers, or insects that they get to see through the microscope. Thank you for providing this wonderful experience for my students to get a chance to work with such a valuable and cool science tool!”

Thank you for donating and helping to fund this project! All of the math games that were provided are resources that have been such a vital part of the classroom learning around math. It has made math concepts more engaging to learn and students are so excited about working with the materials. During rainy day recess, I leave out these games for students to work with and they are the most popular games for students in my classroom. I am so thankful that you have helped to create this learning atmosphere in our classroom. Thank you so much - we appreciate you all!”

  • Getting Creative in Art!

    Funded May 17, 2011

Thank you so much for the donation you have made to buy art supplies for my classroom. Because of you, students were able to build beautiful sculptures out of wood and wood glue, based on the art of Louise Nevelson. Inspired by Nevelson's monochromatic sculptures, students painted their projects with an analogous metallic color scheme. They are stunning!

This project gave us the opportunity to talk about and experience FORM, one of the 7 art elements. It is special for students to have experience making sculptures because our school budget doesn't allow for high cost materials. This means we are usually limited to 2D designs. This is a project students will remember for years to come, and a real keeper for parents. Thank you for believing in art in the schools. The students LOVED this project, and I truly truly appreciate it!!! ”

  • Easy Chapter Books!

    Funded Mar 25, 2011

Thank you for these chapter book series that you helped to fund for my class! My students have been loving all of the simpler chapter books that are at their "just-right" level. So many first graders especially want to be able to read chapter books, but for some, the chapter book series are too difficult and they are not able to independently read them. These more simple chapter book series however, allows them to feel a sense of accomplishment for being able to read a "chapter book" while actually being able to comprehend and read the text! This has been an exciting addition to our class and I know my students are more motivated because of it, so thank you again!”

  • Leveled Books for Growing Readers!

    Funded Feb 1, 2011

You wouldn't believe how much neater and more organized the insides of my students' desks have become! As a teacher, it is a constant goal to provide organizational skills and strategies to my students. It is such an important life skill that sometimes goes unnoticed or dismissed as unimportant. This project proves that providing organizational tools for young children help them to become more responsible for their belongings and helps them to be successful in taking care of their own materials and work. I have Kindergarteners and first graders who used to have pencils, supplies, and scraps spilling out of their desks. The Readers Workshop baggies has minimized this issue for many of my students. They are able to find their materials and lessen the time that they spend in trying to find their things! It has been such a great tool along with all of the other Readers Workshop tools that were a part of the project. Thank you so much again and please look forward to the pictures that will be posted soon!”

  • Our Library Needs a New Rug!

    Funded Oct 21, 2010

This thank you letter was written by our school librarian - thank you for your donation!

    -Miss S.

Thanks to your generosity, our school library's reading corner has been transformed by the addition of the colorful rug. Thank you! I wish you could have been in the library to hear the students, "Oohs," and "Aahs," as they discovered the new addition. It has become the favorite place to stretch out and read, including mornings before school and at recess times. In addition to making our "story corner" more inviting, it has been an amazing teaching aid to help every classroom arrange themselves quickly on the carpet ("on a square"), to ensure they have enough personal space to be able to enjoy the story/lesson. Thank you on behalf of all of our students; they truly enjoy your gift! Also, our staff has felt very supported by your generous funding of this improvement to our school.”

  • Help My First Grade Super-Star Readers!

    Funded Dec 1, 2010

I just want to say thank you to all THIRTY donors who helped to make this project a dream come true in my classroom! My students were so incredibly excited to get these packages and see all of the new books that were donated. My first graders were especially excited for the chapter books that arrived and we have even started a "book club" for chapter books during our guided reading group. I have been thrilled to be able to see my first grader readers be more challenged and motivated to become more fluent readers.

What has amazed me is the reaction of some of my Kindergarten readers as well! They have been advancing in their reading levels and working toward being able to read chapters book too. There are a few Kindergarten readers who have been starting on Junie B. Jones and Magic Tree House books with my first graders! Thank you so much for providing this amazing learning opportunity for my students. They are being challenged and enjoying reading more and more each day. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
