The benefit of this project is to meet the literacy needs of each one of my kindergarten students while instilling a love for reading and learning. I am a first year teacher and due to the increased enrollment, my classroom was a new added section. Because the suddenness of the increased enrollment, I have had to supply many resources by myself. The project will change the entire feel of my classes guided reading time! It will allow students to use books at their just right level while taking pride in the fact that they have “real books.” My students will also be able to place each book we read in their library tub to revisit their books throughout the school day. This instills such a love for reading and rereading. I am hoping to purchase additional books for my classroom library. Currently, I use print out books/homemade books, and loaned higher level readers from our district for our guided reading time. Below you will see some pictures and links for the scholastic books I desire to purchase. My kinders will be so grateful to receive books they are worthy of having!
