  • STEM Kits & More

    Funded Oct 31, 2023

Wow - what excitement did this project bring to my classroom! The students were so excited to see the STEM kits and can't wait to start building them during their weekly W.I.N (what I need) time.

The aquarium will have to saved for the following year due to an unexpected furry visitor. You can imagine we do not want to grow any potential food items for our friend. The students do have hopes of me being able to purchase some neon tetra fish and have started bringing in some glowing accessories to the tank.

Once again thank you so much for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Romero Strong

  • Revamp My Lessons

    Funded Jul 12, 2022

My heart is full to know that generous donors like yourselves would fund our wishlist of Teacher pay teacher gift certificates. With your donation, I was able to purchase five one hundred dollar certificates! These gift certificates are such a life saver! They allow me to differentiate lessons and find high interest level resources, saving me hours of planning each week. Best of all, these resources are benefitting other teachers who carefully upload lessons to share to other teachers like myself.”

  • Exercise While You Work

    Funded Oct 6, 2021

Thank you so much for bringing the excitement of pedaling as we read and flexible seating options! Through you generosity my students and I have options to workout and increase our reading stamina. It has been especially helpful during our recent rainy weather. Students can still get their energy out without sacrificing their learning time.

My students were so excited to help me unbox all our materials! One even took the box home to make a robot!

Thank you again for your generosity and bring in so much excitement into my classroom!”

  • Books Galore

    Funded Jan 21, 2020

Thank you so much for bringing new life to my library! With your generosity, I was able to welcome students back to in person teaching with some great new titles for my library. The students and I were super excited to dive into the new titles.

Since the majority of my students struggle with reading for pleasure, I knew these titles would be a great hit. The graphic novels have introduced my students to new authors and it's been such a treat to watch them become stronger readers.

History! The Past as You've Never Seen it Before has been a great addition as well. The textbook allows for students to see historical events in a new light. During this season of gratitude, I am especially grateful for generous strangers like you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Romero Strong

  • Mobile Library

    Funded Apr 9, 2021

Thank you so much for providing my classroom with a mobile library cart. The students were super excited to see the new addition to our space. Not only does it fit perfectly in an odd space in my classroom but it is super functional too! It has been so useful to have the ability to keep our books in quarantine between check outs. It also helps keep us all organized by being able to store our headphones off the sidebars.

Since the pandemic, teaching hasn't been the same but with generous donors like yourselves - it brings back my passion to continue making a difference.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Romero Strong

  • Sharp Pencils for Sharp Minds

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Wow! What excitement it is to have a working pencil sharpener! My students no longer have to deal with dull pencils until the next day and that is all due to your generosity.

We are currently building a multiplication facts table - one sticky note at a time! The bright colors of the post it's really brighten up the classroom. I am even using the range of colors to help students see the patterns amongst the table!

Your generosity fuels my desire to be a better teacher everyday! This is my 21st school year and I am still giddy with excitement every time I see a donorschoose funding email. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

  • Wobble Chairs Help Us Get the Wiggles Out!

    Funded Jun 19, 2020

Thank you so much for all your generosity! As we hit the 6 month mark of the current pandemic, educators are teaching in unprecedented times and when our projects get funded - you truly are bringing us to tears!

While these wobbly chairs are safely stored in my classroom, they are not forgotten. Unfortunately our in person schooling ended on March 13, 2020 and we are still awaiting a date for LAUSD schools to open.

When I did tell my students about our new chairs, they were ready to share the chairs among themselves. My students are BRILLIANT! They actually wanted to pass the 4 chairs among the 24 students in our class and knew that it would take 6 weeks for the entire class to enjoy the chairs. Unfortunately with the threat of COVID, this is not a reality but we really are hoping to go back this year and can't wait to use them!

Thank you again for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Romero Strong

My students just need that extra support to reach their full potential. Unfortunately, many of my students lack the phonemic awareness to be able to grasp grade level standards. I am advocating for them by thinking outside of the traditional classroom setup and making their intervention experience as innovative as possible. Most of my students come from homes that unfortunately can not provide them with access to technology, even the public library is too far away to walk to. This plea for technology will give my students what LAUSD hasn't been able to - working technology in the classroom!
