Physics + Prototypes = Success
Funded Dec 10, 2024Thank you very much for your donations, we are using the cardboard, glue sticks and cutters to create models and posters according to the topics covered in class.
We have built 3D models of the atom and posters on the four fundamental forces.
My students and I were excited to receive the materials, hot glue gun sticks are always needed in our projects. I am also using some of the material in my forensic science class by building a scaled model of a crime scene.
The next step in our physics class is to create a kinetic sculpture by pairing dynamics with electricity. We will create the parts of the sculpture with layers of cardboard and attach them to a small motor.”

Funded Oct 30, 2024I am most grateful for your generosity, these forensic science kits helped my class to be more dynamic. We were very happy when we got funded. With the first kit, my students were excited to apply forensic science methods in the classroom. They had a lot of fun analyzing the blood samples, the fingerprints, and the handwriting. By looking at the fibers and hair under the microscope, they were able to solve the case. This made them feel like they were real forensic scientists analyzing a crime scene.
With the second kit we are analyzing synthetic urine samples for the presence of alcohol and drugs. We have learned about the adverse effects of alcohol and drugs in the body, especially in the brain. The cases in the kit included the analysis of a possible driving under influence case and the screening of some patients for the use of other drugs. My students learned that laboratory work for urine samples includes colorimetric tests just like the ones included in the kit such as, Marquis and Simon. They are also learning that there are some specific tests for alcohol and marijuana. These were also included in the kit.
I am truly thankful for your donations. I think the education of our students truly improves when you have lab work or hands-on activities. You are absolutely contributing to their intellectual maturity.”
