  • Making Artwork Look Sharp With Sharpies.

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations so that my students were able to receive new Sharpie markers and pens. With these materials, my 6th graders were able to outline their Keith Haring graffiti-style symbols to really help the color pop! My 8th-grade students used these Sharpie markers to color in their Positive/Negative insect designs where they created drawings inspired by the artist M.C. Escher. The 8th-grade students used the Sharpie pens to create detailed Stippling drawings inspired by the Pointillism paintings of artists like Georges Seurat.

Although very basic, these have been very beneficial to my students in our classroom. I thank you for your kindness in getting these materials to my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stevens

  • Individual Supply Packs for a Safe Art Room

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations so that we were able to receive individual art supply packs for each of my students. With social distancing protocols, we were told that art materials could not be shared this school year as they typically were in the past. This posed a huge obstacle to overcome when trying to plan for the 2020-2021 school year. Although each student would have a digital device to complete written assignments with, I still wanted to incorporate a "hands-on" approach to our art class. By providing a bag of basic art materials, we were (and are) able to create drawings of many different styles and techniques. My students have really enjoyed the fact that they were able to still create artwork in the styles of the artists they were learning about, and are very thankful for your donations as am I.

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.”

  • Rulers and Scissors for Art Class

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations towards the purchase of new scissors and rulers for my students to utilize during social distancing protocols. With their individual packs of art supplies that included the rulers and scissors, my 8th-grade students were able to create these positive/negative insect design drawings inspired by the tesselation works from MC Escher. Students used the scissors to cut out stencils of symmetrical insect designs that they then traced with overlapping geometric shapes to create their patterned designs. Without the scissors, the students would not have been able to make their stencils.

Thank you so much for your generosity.”

  • Life's Messy, Wear a Smock! Painting Aprons Needed!

    Funded Jul 2, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donation! While this school year may look a little different than usual with social distancing protocols, we look forward to using the new aprons next year when we can paint again.

I know my students will be super excited to start the new school year off with new materials. The color choices will also make distribution and cleanup a breeze as students will know which aprons belong to specific table groups and know exactly where to put them away at the end of class.

I cannot wait to be able to use them with my students next year as we get back to "normal" and use fun but messy materials such as papier-mache and paints. We plan to use the aprons next year when we create our Sugar Skull masks and giant food sculptures with grade six, and Andy Warhol inspired self-portrait paintings with grade eight.”

  • Making Artwork Look Sharp With New Sharpies

    Funded Jun 22, 2020

Thank you so much for our new Sharpie markers! Students in the sixth grade have already used them to outline their graffiti drawings when creating personal meaning murals inspired by the artist Keith Haring.

These new Sharpie markers really help the artwork pop! Students in grade eight are currently using their new Sharpies to create positive/negative insect designs inspired by the artist M.C. Escher.

Although a simple tool, these new Sharpie markers are a huge asset to our classroom. My students and I are very appreciative of your generosity in providing these materials for us. We look forward to using them again for additional art projects this year.”

  • Colored Pencils for Art

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you SO MUCH for the new colored pencils to use during social-distancing. My students were very excited to find out that we would be receiving some physical art materials to use to create drawings.

So far, 6th-grade students have used colored pencils to create graffiti mural drawings inspired by the artwork of artist Keith Haring. In these mural drawings, students tell a personal story using symbols. Students in 8th grade have used colored pencils to create a seascape drawing of the ocean and lighthouses. Students learned about blending colored pencils to create the illusion of three-dimension.

Currently, the 6th-grade students are utilizing colored pencils to create a landscape drawing inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night. The students really look forward to utilizing these materials and both they, and I are very appreciative of your generosity so that we can have these materials in our classroom.”

  • Beautiful Bulletin Board Displays for Artwork

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

Although we were not able to fully utilize these materials due to the school closure, my students were very excited to see the materials arrive and to know that their artwork would have been hung around the building for display.

I look forward to utilizing these materials to decorate the building's bulletin boards to welcome the students back to our building in the fall, as I know seeing a colorful, building upon their return would really brighten up their day considering current events. I also look forward to using these new materials to display their creative artwork throughout the school year and at our end of the year art show as well.”

  • Crazy for Crayola

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

Thank you so much for the new colored pencils and markers! My students love being able to add color to their artwork. Unfortunately our supplies had dwindled as the second half of the year approached. With the new supplies, my students were able to add shading with colored pencils to their drawings, and add color to their grid drawings.

Before we left due to school closures, we were planning on utilizing these materials with the eight grade students for our multi-media self portrait drawings and these students were going to learn how to blend colored pencils when creating larger than life candy drawings!

Although we were not able to complete these last projects, I look forward to utilizing these materials with my students in the fall.”

  • Multicultural Mask Making Supplies

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

Thank you so much for the materials that my students used when creating their multi-cultural masks! This project is something that my sixth grade students really look forward to, and talk about as eighth graders.

The new bins were very useful for holding the papier-mache mix that we created with the liquid glue. Our old bins were several different sizes, and many had cracks that leaked. With the arrival of our new bins, we were able to "retire" the old ones, and each table was able to have their own bin for students to share. This allowed for all students to have better access to the materials, as there were less students per table.

When it came to decorating the completed, painted masks, my students were beyond ecstatic to see the new boxes of glitter glue pens! They were able to add beautiful details to their masks and it really brought a new element to their designs. I look forward to utilizing these materials again with my sixth grade students next year!”

  • Organized Oil Pastels

    Funded Nov 22, 2019

Thank you so much for the new organizational bins for my students. The organizational bins have come in handy when students were selecting the oil pastels. Each table of students were able to have their own bins which helped not only with organization, but also cut down on time during distribution and cleanup which allowed my students to have more working time.

My sixth grade students utilized the new organizational bins when they created their oil pastel cake drawings, and they absolutely loved them. These bins helped to keep the pastels organized, so it was easy for the students to find the colors they needed. They also gave each pastel their own proper place, instead of being left on tables, which ultimately would lead to pastels rolling onto the floor and getting crushed.

I definitely noticed a cut down on broken pastels, and pastels left behind on the floor since we received the new organizational bins. I look forward to having these bins for years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Stevens
