  • First Grade Garden

    Funded Dec 19, 2024

We appreciate the donations that have made this project such a huge hit and a great learning opportunity.

We first prepped soil and added nutrients to the beds, then we planted the seeds into small cups to watch them grow. The students have been taking the ownership and responsibility for watering them.

Students have been writing journals and documenting the plants. The best thing about this project is that students in other grades have started coming to the garden beds and asking questions about all the little plants. I never expected our little garden to become such a big hit at our school.”

  • Reading to Write in a Cozy Space!

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

I have hung the string of lights up around the classroom and instantly the room became so much more inviting. Thank you for this.

The best part of this whole project is the "Who Was" book series. The students have used this to write biographies on their chosen person. Some students wrote a paper pamphlet on their person, while other students created slide shows about their person. These books gave the students the perfect book at their level for reading and writing.

We could not have been so successful without this project and your help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

  • Future Leaders Start by Being Readers!

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

I appreciate the support that you have given. I have students in a range of reading levels. I have many students who enjoy the dogman books. These are so many in my class who run to get a Dogman book when they get to read in the library. Reluctant readers enjoy these and I know they are the key to unlocking the love of reading for many students.

I have one student who didn't want to read chapter books. I convinced her to read one According to Humphrey book and now she is constantly reading and rereading the Humphrey books. Another student is in love with the Owl Diaries.

The carpet and vacuum I got with this has been amazing to finish the perfect area for our classroom library. It was the perfect finishing touch. Students will enjoy this area for years to come!”

  • From Big to Small - Hands on Learning

    Funded Oct 11, 2022

My students created drawings of plant and animal cells. Then we talked about them and what it means to have a scale drawing. To further help drive the point we shrank our drawings! Most of the students had never seen shrinky dinks before. The terror as they began to crumple followed by the sheer joy as the pieces flattened into tiny versions was so fun to watch. I can't imagine a better way to show them exactly what scale models and drawings mean. They don't know it yet, but they will be turned into key chains to help them remember this really cool experience. Thank you for all your help in this!”

  • Decimals, Fractions and Fun!

    Funded Aug 23, 2022

The math games that we have received have been a wonderful motivational tool. My students who have completed their work as required are allowed to have the last half of class on Friday to play math games. Since I have made this am incentive for them, I have had many more students who have been completing their required work on time. This has been the most amazing positive tool for my classroom!

The other amazing thing has been the fractions flip chart and wall poster. My students are able to quickly look at it and reference for their needs. They are getting a better understanding of fractions and this will continue with percentages.”

  • Celebrating Everyone!

    Funded Aug 24, 2022

I have started celebrating birthdays for students which has been great. The students all feel special and welcome. They get a squishy, a lolipop and a slap bracelet. All the students enjoy coming in to see their name on the board and then chosing the items.

The other big thing in this project was a class set of highlighters. This is making it so easy for students to color code the different parts of their math problems to see a better understanding. Thank you so much. We go through the different parts and label the same. They get to use these notes on their tests which is beneficial to their scores.”

  • A Comfortable Place for Everyone

    Funded Jan 17, 2022

From the first day I received these items in the classroom, they have made a huge impact. Box after box came in and I couldn't wait to work on putting the items together. I had two students who stayed in my class afterschool that day to do some work they were missing. These young ladies watched as I assembled the two tables. The shock that I didn't outsource and did it on my own was huge. These young ladies mentioned how they could never put a table together, which led to a great talk about just because they are girls, doesn't mean they cant use tools. They left impowered with knowing they can also get things done.

Now for the chairs and tables, their actual impact as part of the classroom has been huge. My students come in daily and sit at these tables. I have not had one day go where every spot at these tables aren't taken. I have flexible seats and no seating chart. The students love having the freedom of where to sit and they enjoy these tables that helps them be the most comfortable and productive

I have all the big things I need for my class, I'm not sure what I will try to fund next. I am very frugal and only want to spend money (even donated money) on the things that will have the largest impact in my classroom for the largest amount of students. So once I figure out what we really need, then I will continue my funding. I am so thankful for everyone who has made this possible.”

  • Welcoming Classroom Welcomes All!

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

My students are loving the new items in the classroom. Daily I had students wanting to sit in the floor as that is where they were comfortable. I was constantly having them get up as I was worried about how dusty the floor is and how uncomfortable it was. Now with our carpet, beanbags and cushions, the students have a safe designated place for them to sit on the floor. Many students love to sit there and read when they have completed their work.

The other HUGE success that has came from this donation is from all the baby wipes. I now have students doing their math problems right on the desk with dry erase markers. My most reluctant students will quickly participate and work on the desk top. This gets them involved but as a side triumph, it makes it so easy for me to walk through the classroom of 30+ students and quickly identify student mistakes and guide them.

My students really enjoy the donation and get daily use out of t. Thank you so much for the support and love that you have shared with my classroom.”

I became a teacher to create a safe place for children. Sadly for many children, school is the only place where they feel safe. I continually am working on creating a warm environment for students to work collaboratively on their math and science tasks. It is not a rare thing for a student to volunteer, make a mistake, and then there are suddenly 4 other students rallying around that student and helping them through their mistake. My goal for my classroom is to create a warm and inviting place where all my students can feel safe and know they are loved. My students feel welcomed by myself and by the other students, now my goal is to make the classroom itself a place that reflects that warm and inviting feeling with this rug and bean bag chairs. These students come from many different home situations and I want all of them to feel that my classroom is a second home for ALL of them. No matter what needs they may have.
