Engaging Books Needed for Interactive Read Alouds!
Funded Feb 12, 2016Thank you for supporting our classroom and literacy! I strive to give my students access to as many books as I can as some don't have that opportunity at home. The books you helped provide have and will be used for interactive read-alouds. Interactive read-alouds allow me to read each story to my class while teaching a lesson or leading a discuss at the same time. This strategy gives us the opportunity to dig deeper into each text and master many skills at the same time. The books I chose cover social skills, reading, and writing standards. We have already read five of them since they arrived! My students learned so much through the use of the stories and illustrations. They have read them over and over again.
Thank you again for supporting our class, and helping us learn through the use of powerful literature.”

Students Need iPads for Instruction & Learning: Can You Help
Funded Oct 8, 2015This project is making an impact in our classroom daily. My students utilize the iPads everyday for learning. They have already been used for independent projects, group work, small group instruction, and daily skill practice through the use of apps and websites. Many of my students do not have access to this type of technology at home. I am able to use the iPads to personal learning and projects based on student needs as well as their learning style. The ability to have these devices and use them in so many ways has enhanced my student's learning and is improving their ability to use and explore technology. Just last week, my students were brainstorming and filming book report commercials using the iPads.. Without these tools, my students wouldn't have as many opportunities to "think outside the box" and challenge their learning beyond typical resources.
In short, these iPads have opened the door for endless possibilities for my students to learn and explore the world in so many ways. They are coming to school with new ideas for using the devices and even giving app suggestions. The sky is the limit, and we can't THANK YOU enough!”

Picture Books Bring Math And Writing To Life: Can You Help?
Funded Mar 23, 2015Thank you for supporting our class and your help in the purchase of these wonderful picture books! My students were anxiously awaiting their arrival. These books were used several times a week this school year to teach or introduce the skills and standards we were learning in reading and math. My second graders are engaged and drawn in by content rich stories that bring the topics we are studying to life or help them make applications. The books you helped purchase are an vital addition to my lesson planning and enhance student learning and understanding in a fun and engaging way. My students often read the books over and over again after I read them aloud. These picture books will continue to be used weekly in my classroom, thanks to your support!”

Readers Need Help Learning Genre! Can You Help?
Funded Dec 31, 2014My students and I thank you again for your generous donation. When I told my class we were receiving the books, they asked when they were arriving everyday until they were delivered. These books have become many of my student's first choice for independent reading. The texts are available at a range of reading levels, allowing all of my students to have several books they can read and enjoy at their text level.
We have also used both of the guided reading sets. The teacher's guides and lesson plans provided materials that enriched and supplemented the text. I was able to use the books to teach both genre and several reading concepts such as cause/effect and story elements. The students were excited to read the stories to see what happened next. The format is engaging and a unique style to help teach students concepts and reading skills in a different way.
Without your donation, these books would not be accessible to my students. Thank you again!”

Funded Jan 5, 2015This project has help my students make connections with addition and subtraction. They have been able to have materials to give them additional hands-on practice, and allow them to manipulate and make connections with what subtraction and addition actually mean. The students who are struggling before with the concept of regrouping and borrow I now better understand what that truly means, because they were able to use manipulatives and see the visual representation.
The centers and small-group activities were and have been used for independent work, small group instruction, and extra practice. The center materials allowed me to customize work based on student need.
The students have enjoyed using the materials and will continue to use them throughout the school year for continued practice.”

Readers Need a New Rug! Can You Help?
Funded Dec 23, 2014Our new classroom rug has made a huge difference in our room. I cannot thank you enough for your help! All of my students can comfortably fit on the rug with extra space, which is something we were not able to do before. My entire class could not comfortably fit before. We use our rug several times today, and your generosity has made a difference.
The day the rug arrived, my students were so excited! They wanted to unroll it right then and work on it the rest of the day. So, we did. All of my students were able to work with their markerboards with plenty of room.
We now use it daily for morning meetings, independent reading time, read-alouds, small group instruction, or even whole class instruction. I was never able to teach from the rug area before. We are now able to.
As you can see, your generous donation has made a huge impact in our classroom. My students and I are so thankful for your help and support. We wouldn't have it without you! Thank you again.”

Funded Oct 29, 2014Thank you for supporting this project. The materials that were purchased have and will be used to help strengthen my students' reading skills and comprehension levels. The stories are interesting and engaging, as are the activities and centers I was able to purchase. So far, I have used them both during my intervention instruction time and guided reading groups. I also plan to allow the students to use the reading folders independently or with partners, and take them home for extra practice if they need to.
Without your help, my students would not have had the access to these additional content-rich materials that will help them to become stronger and more independent readers. Thank you again!”

Needed: Weekly Readers and Time for Kids for 2nd Graders!
Funded Sep 25, 2014Thank you for your contribution to this project. The Time for Kids and Scholastic News magazines have been wonderful resources for my classroom. The magazines have provided nonfiction text that support our standards and reinforce the skills I am teaching in reading, writing, science, and social studies. The videos and on-line activities supplement the magazines and are engaging for the students. I have used the materials in reading groups, small group settings, and as a whole class.
Thank you again for you helping support my students and their education. I want to provide them with a text-rich environment that incorporates science and social studies into my reading curriculum. With your donation, you have helped me do that.”
