Let's Play Ball!
Funded Jul 12, 2017Our school cannot thank you enough for your generous donation! Our school soccer team will begin this March but our students couldn't wait to open the boxes and set up the soccer goals and use the balls right away! It has really had the most amazing impact--now more students than ever are talking about trying out for the team!
Many of the students were blown away by the donation and it made them really excited and happy to take pictures to show how much this has impacted their time at school. It meant a lot to them, that there is such generosity and kindness, especially during trying times in current events.
Our students are especially proud of how awesome the new materials are--they couldn't wait to break them in! Teaching PE became so fun and easy and now we have a lot of momentum for our team sports. Thank you so much!”

Funded Jun 19, 2017I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and kindness you have shown my students! We started school back up this week and for the first time, they were eager for math! They asked if we can get to work right away. I assigned some intervention materials as review to address the dreaded summer slide, and they breezed through them! I loop with my kids for three years because I teach third through fifth grade, and this was the first time they came back so prepared! I know Zeal at Home had a huge role to play in their success and it makes my teacher heart so happy to have been able to collaborate with you to bring such success for each of my students! Funded May 2, 2017We have spent the last few weeks pouring over the books we received in our donor's choose project and my students are in love! Every day they ask for more and more independent reading time to have a chance to read these books to themselves or with a peer.
My students are behind in reading and have many challenges with reading comprehension at their grade level and so they really enjoy these books because they provide amazing visual cues to assist in their reading! Also, they love that some of the books in this set are graphic novels, which means they don't feel embarrassed to read them outside our classroom.
I especially love seeing my students get together in pairs and read to each other. It is tough to find grade level appropriate reading with amazing visuals and these books are great for my kids at all three grades! Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness, it has made a real impact in my classroom and in the lives of my students!”

Funded Feb 8, 2017I cannot thank you enough!! I wish you could have been a fly on the wall to witness my students' excitement when the box arrived with our books! They were so amazed that we received such a generous donation for new reading materials! We spent the morning passing the books around and excitedly talked about which book might be our favorite!
This project was very special for me because I have been searching all year for reading materials that would be the right level for my students and not make them feel embarrassed. These leveled readers are perfect! My students love them!
Some of my fifth grade students really struggle with reading, they are at a kindergarten level, and when they picked these books up, they were so distracted by the artwork and awesome comic book style, they did not notice the book was leveled. This is so amazing because by fifth grade, my students are aware they are behind and some of them are very embarrassed by it. This has made trying to instill reading as a joy very difficult for some of my kiddos. I was so moved when they picked up the books and read them with ease and excitement! They are exactly what I have been looking for and it made my teacher heart so happy to see them read with joy and enthusiasm! I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation and the impact you've had on my class!”

Funded Jan 24, 2017I wish I had a picture of my students' faces when the boxes arrived and we set up our flexible seating!! They were ecstatic! We set up the classroom in no time and when my students saw the stability balls and stools, they excitedly explored and tried out the different options. It was amazing to see their enthusiasm, joy, and curiosity!
Since we have implemented flexible seating, behavior has been greatly reduced! My students are staying at their desk much longer because they are able to shift on the stability ball as needed to move and regulate themselves. They have huge smiles on their faces every day! They have also made gains in self-awareness. Now that we have choices for seating arrangements, my students are experimenting with the option that fits their learning style best, and this reflection has been such a wonderful learning experience for them!
Our classwork is going so smoothly and my students and I are truly so thankful for the wonderful generosity and support you have given our classroom! Every day, they are excited to learn because they feel special and cared for. I am very excited because we are reaching our learning outcomes faster! Thank you so much for your donation!!”

STEAM Storytellers Need Books!

I cannot thank you all enough for your generous donations!! School just started and my kids were so excited to see the boxes arrive to our classroom door, they couldn't wait for me to make them a special project to use right away! As a class, we decided it would be fun to create our own sticker books, with custom stickers we designed and voted on! So fun! They loved coming up with fun stickers to motivate hard work and behavior. Some favorites are #likeaboss and Mrs. Miranda is SO proud of me!
After we complete our assessments, I'll be able to use the book binder, Astro bright paper, and velcro to make adapted books to integrate English Language Arts with Science and Math. The assessments will guide my instruction and give me the information necessary to level the books to really meet the need for each of my students.
Our class is so grateful and excited for what we can do with our project this year. They are coming up with some great ideas, ways I didn't even think of using the book binder, and we all have you to thank! Your thoughtfulness has made a huge impact on my students' lives. Thank you!”
