School's Out for Summer!
Funded May 9, 2019"Thank you" seems insufficient as I try to express my gratitude for your generosity. Your donations to my project enabled my students to receive a beautiful end-of-the-year gift for all their hard work.
After our state-wide English Language Arts exam, my students looked defeated and let down. I went home that week and cried my brains out. I wanted to do something special for them. My students have grown so much this past year. Even though the numbers state it's little growth, but its better than NO GROWTH. I find it most rewarding that these kids are able to get so much out of these books on a personal level. My students have worked extremely hard this year. I didn't know what else I could do to help bring back the smiles to their faces. I received the package and told them that inside the box was something meant for them and they'll be able to officially open it by the end of next week. So for the past month, I've noticed a change in the classroom. They are working their hardest as always but this time with BIG SMILES on their beautiful, little faces. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

Funded Apr 16, 2019My students and I have benefited so much from Meeting the Needs of Students with ASD that I attended! I gained invaluable knowledge of the best practices to support my students with ASD. The best part of this was receiving an abundant amount of resources and materials that I could use in the classroom right away. I was able to speak to my students' parents with a different understanding. I am able to help support all my students differently than I did before I took this course. My students and I cannot thank you enough for your contribution to this project.”

Funded Mar 24, 2019Thank you all very much for making this happen for my students. I can't thank you all enough for such generous donations. My students and I were very worried that this project wouldn't get funding in time and LITERALLY a day before the due date, it was funded. I must have screamed when I received the email notification. The students were more excited when I told them that we were getting a big shipment of books. They couldn't believe that people just bought books for our classroom and didn't want anything in return. I had to go into a big discussion with my students on being sympathetic, grateful and kind. I explained to my students that people outside of our school are readers just like us. They wanted us to experience what it means to be a reader and how to enjoy a good book. They couldn't wait to start reading the books as soon as we took them out of the boxes.
The books that you helped us buy, I have noticed students are able to read on their own with no support from an adult. My heart grew 10 sizes bigger listening and watching them read during independent reading. Students are motivated about reading and the choices they have in the books they get to read! They converse about the great books they took home to read at night and can't wait to tell their friends. These new and appealing books that I was able to purchase are a very exciting event in our classroom! All of the books ordered were based on my students' levels and many students who struggle to find books to read in the library are interested and couldn't wait to get their hands on a new book of their choice.
Thank you for understanding the importance of giving students engaging, on-level books to help them learn and grow as readers and as learners.”

Supporting Our Textile Learners.
Funded Feb 24, 2018Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. We truly appreciate your donation to help us learn and grow. We received our cushions, bands, and lap desks all at once and my students couldn't wait to open the packages. We use all our materials throughout the day. My learners have become comfortable in using the equipment when it is mostly needed. I've noticed a major change in the way they comprehend the information I am teaching them when they are sitting on a seat cushion or when they are in small group using the lap desk.
"Wow", "How cool!", "WE HAVE CUSHIONS?" were some of the expressions that I heard gasping out of my students mouths! When the supplies arrived, school has been in session for a few months. Soon after, we opened the materials, students were so excited to see the materials and to get their hands on them!
We are super grateful to live in a community that is always willing to help our learners. Thank you so much.”

We Better Book it ... to the Library!
Funded Jan 1, 2018Thank you all very much for making this happen for my classroom. Thank you very much for your generous donation! My students and I were counting down the days until we received our shipment. The students were very excited to find out that the materials came in and couldn't wait to open the package. I explained to my students that people outside of our school are readers just like us. They wanted us to experience the same books they had growing up. They were very thankful and couldn't wait to start reading the books.
The books that you helped us buy are ones that students gravitate toward each day during independent reading. Students are motivated about reading and the choices they have in the books they get to read! They converse about the great books they took home to read at night and can't wait to tell their friends. These new and appealing books that I was able to purchase was and still is a very exciting event in our classroom! All of the books ordered were student suggested and many students who struggle to find books to read in the library are interested and couldn't wait to get their hands on a new book of their choice.
Thank you for understanding the importance of giving students engaging, on-level books to help them learn and grow as readers and as learners.”

Literacy Learning One Game At A Time
Funded Mar 10, 2016Thank you ever so much for making it happen for my classroom. My students were very excited to open up the boxes the materials came in. They had no idea what was inside. I explained to my students that people outside of our school wanted to see them grow and learn and become better readers and writers so they brought us literacy games to keep in our classroom. They couldn't believe their eyes when I started opening the packages and showing them what we received. The look of excitement and surprise was written all over their faces. They are still grateful to this day of all the literacy games they received. They make sure to ask me whether the person who brought them all the games knows how thankful they are.
In our classroom, after our morning routines, students are sent off into their literacy groups. Each day a group is at one of the 5 centers that have been introduced. We tend to circulate different centers every other week or every week based on our data. Every morning, students can't wait to go to their centers. Since the new materials have been introduced, there has been a significant increase in recognizing sight words, letter formations, and just being a helpful classroom community where students are learning and teaching each other. If you happen to walk by our classroom during this time, students are actively engaged and participating with one another. There isn't a center that a student doesn't want to visit twice in one week.
Again, we can't thank you enough for the funding of our materials. We hope you can one day visit our classroom before the end of the school year so you can see all the fun learning these games have offered the students.”

Funded Nov 29, 2015We did it! Thank you ever so much for making it happen for my classroom. My students were very excited to open up the package that the iPad came in. They had no idea what was inside the package. The look of excitement and surprise was written all over their faces. One of my students still couldn't believe that someone has given our classroom an iPad to keep "forever".
I believe any person especially young children acquire language and learning through hearing, seeing, touching and saying- almost all our five senses. My students will be able to use the iPad to help them improve their language, speaking and writing skills through manipulation of sounds and visuals. In ELA, the iPad will allow my students to identify sight words, letter and sound recognition, and aiding them in beginning stages of how to read. I've downloaded apps that students can follow along and read with. In math, the iPad will provide student's visual manipulative's, number recognitions, as well as adding and subtracting in an interactive manner.
Most of the apps downloaded allow my students to have fun while also learning at the same time. My students with IEP love using the iPad for their break. It's remarkable the power of technology can have on a child. They'll quickly open Read, Touch, Write, Monkey Math, or Motion Math and are entranced and happy to begin the fun learning game.
Again, I can't thank you all enough.”
