  • A Rug Place for Everyone!

    Funded Nov 2, 2021

My students and I cannot thank you enough for your donations to our project. This rug has been an absolute game changer for our classroom environment. Not only have we been able to facilitate so many morning meetings, social emotional lessons and dance parties on this rug, but it has greatly helped improve behavior during our meeting times. Every student knows that they must choose one rectangle and claim it as their own during circle time and they love getting to hop around on them when we have breaks :)

When we first brought in the rug, the students had just came in from recess. They had been counting down the days until it arrived, and were shocked when it came earlier than expected! It was a very dramatic reveal, and as we rolled it out, they couldn't believe it looked like the rainbow rug of their dreams...but actually, they lost their minds in the best way possible. From that day forward, it's their favorite place in the classroom. Not only do we use it for class meetings and whole group lessons, but this rug is home to so many puzzles, math activities and group games. We are beyond excited to keep using it for the rest of the year and for more years to come. This being my first year teaching in my own classroom, these memories will always have a special place in my heart.

Our hope is to keep our rug space the heart of our classroom and continue facilitating more FUN! From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Stefanov's Scholars

Hello there! As a first year teacher in a brand new program, I am just starting to develop my classroom resources, supplies, and library. This year I will be teaching Pre-K with a classroom of 20 students. The student population is majority low-income, with a large population of Multilingual Learners and immigrant families. Our classroom space is large but lacks furniture and manipulatives due to the newness of the program. I am looking to make the most of it! I want all students to feel safe and comfortable in their classroom community through the creation of different sensory spaces for students to take a break from the typical classroom setting. Furthermore, I am hoping to build a meaningful and culturally relevant classroom library for my students to develop a sense of love of reading in our classroom. All help is welcomed and appreciated by both myself and my students! Thank you!
